Well I agree it tastes better. My trip to Japan was group packaged tour including a Jap seafood dinner on final night. But when we free and easy time walked around look see look see, the prices on the windows were fainting shocking when we took out our calculators to convert the rates

Thanks Leongsam, the reason I asked is because just a short moment ago a frenchman took my 4 pieces of luggage up my room, I know he must be a manager or at least a supervisor or something like this because he told me he couldn't find any staff and so he brought it up for my wife and I. Then after placing he bags in the room he sort of like gedek-gedek in my room and didn't want to leave and I felt a little awkward. However I told him merci boku, arigato, thank you then he finally left. I did not give him any tip because I felt that if he is a manager I should not give him but if he is a worker I would have happily given him. So this is why I asked.

Talking about service charge. Why the restaurant cannot just add all the charges like service charge/GST in the price list. Then the price will be nett. No need so troublesome to both operator and customer.
