To all Sg fugitives in Thailand : Is Ramkamhaeng a nice place to live ?

Sorry I MIA for a while went meeting la now going to board soon at Penang airport. Answer thread tonight when get back.

Lets put money issue aside. Just in terms of living comfort and convenience, and now coupled with the threat of a sinking BKK and flash flood, if given the choice would you prefer a Moo Baan or a big condo ?

obviously........do you know how hard it is to be a naturalized Thai? PR takes years........only Sinkie land is so easy

Sadly the PAP has cheapen the Spore passport .
The only value I see in holding a Sing passport is if you want to upgrade to a better one :)
PAP might call these "quitters" but I think these people are upgraders :o

It's obvious that many people would like to live in LOS. Mant thais tolerate these foreigners as they bring in $$. Just surprised that there is so many bureaucratic hurdles one has to overcome.

Even foreigners who own businesses there have to do "visa runs" which require exiting the country. In countries like Canada it may be harder to get in, but once your in, it's smooth sailing.

Hi Johnny, I don't like the area because of the traffic and it is very difficult for me to go to office which is 45km away. Location therefore is a main reason. Secondly the reason I don't consider condo is because I am used to living on landed since I was in Singapore and the thing I like is the garden and space to hold parties. Thirdly looking at the cost reasons given before it doesn't make much sense to live in condo here in Bangkok

Of course Sukhumvit/Silom/sathorn areas codos are very expensive and many could be as expensive as Singapore's. Many condos there are owned by foreigners or leased by foreigners because they work in that area.

Foreigners are not allowed to own land period. However company could own industrial land for business even if the company is 100% foreign own. However for company to own residential land then this is another matter as it has to be 65% Thai share. Yes there is loophole but don't get caught thats all. I used this loophole to buy a 750sqm land recently to build my dream house..

Why won't you consider a condo in the Sukhumvit/Sathorn/Silom area:confused: Is it because of the high cost? How much are we talking about?

From what I understand foreigners aren't allowed to buy land/house am I right? Heard of some kind of loophole some foreigners are using by buying under a company but we all know what happened to Ho Ching;)

Yes Khun Ying Pojaman, I agree and I've made my point if one is willing to pay 5mil for a 2 bedroom condo in Ratchada or Lat Phrao or Ramkhampaeng might as well spend a mil or two more for a landed.

Hm....not really talking about where to live. It's more about one's personal preference for condo or Moo Baan, assuming that money is not an issue (though it will always be).

Hi Ja, this is the end of the rainy season (May to Oct) so it is raining almost everyday, near the end of the season raining very hard like the last burst of fire. When you coming?

guys is it raining everyday in BKK?

I might pop over to phuket when i go BKK but was told that there might be a storm in phuket.

I have never lived in a landed property in my entire life, so I wouldn't be able to make any comparison between living in a condo and landed property.

Khun Ying thanks. If not sure don't jump in. So far I have shared that foreigners cannot own land period. At the end of the day yes there is the loophole but the loophole one use has other loopholes too and it is never foolproof. One then if wanting to jump in must have very trusted partners in the business whom you can trust. Having said that one must be prepared to walk off losing everything.

Guys who are contemplating using company to buy landed property in Thailand, please read this post:

Don't let the Thai lawyers BS you, especially those who graduated from Open University like Ramkh.

I can understand where your coming from.
It's every Sporeans dream to have their own house :)

I know of some some colleagues who are thinking of buying some condos in this area as an investment. My thai friend has also bought property as an investment, to rent to expats. This area is convenient for the expat s because of the shops & services. The MRT is also convenient way to to get around.

Yes just renewed this month my work permit and also visa for multiple entry also for my wife too. One year but this is my third time so next renewal will seek for longer peirod.

I believe he already has a work permit in Thailand. There is no need for visa run.

he he he I being cheeky here but then just think of the garden and trees you plant its nice to sit outside and if you have a dog running around its nice. Give you some work on the garden too. Its fun. And for me I like to have parties at home with my partners and friends this is ideal for me. Of course landed property in Thailand is more prone to khamoy compare to condo burglary is a common problem in Thailand but if you have good security guards and also system its ok. Also if have maid it helps too. So far so good for me.

Which areas of thailand are more prone to gang violence and bulgary etc?

You see all i know about thailand is that the southernmost states have lots of muslim violence. What about the other states? Thailand has 70 provinces and what most ppl know about the place are the gals and the trannies. I think that's really too generalized. Perhaps tell me how are areas near cambodia like. Any fighting or trouble? How about next to burma. The golden triangle is it still dangerous like before?

I'm arriving around 23rd this month. I have plans to travel to phuket to see the 9 emperor gods festival on 26th. This is some real hardcore tang kee show makes singapore's version like a baby's version. The thing is i'm not really decided yet. I don't even know if phuket has any storms. I have contacts with some guide in phuket and he says phuket's fine but then i don't know if i can believe him.

Go MBK upstairs to get some Lacoste and Polo shirts, very nice. Better than the real thing. The 'Nautica' season is over for the time being, and 'Lacoste' is back.

Let me know if you have time for a drink here.
