Pse indicate the capacity of RAM used in your PC, this is to get an idea of the statistical distribution of various sizes today. Thanks ;)

RAM or hard disk capacity? Why got this crazy number 64 gig?

I don't use RAMSETH for my PC. I don't hate him. Just find it disgusting with the association. :D

RAM lah. Have 64GB if you purchase workstation board, got 8 slot got 16 slot, multiple CPU sockets, 2 sockets or 4 also have. Then there are monsters like mentorgraphics or SGI with 16 CPUs and TBs of RAM but those are out of the norm.

;)

HDD will soon stop going by GBs, min 1TB by end of this year I guess.

Win7 Ultimate x64 support up to 192GB ram...for normal gaming, simple off application, surfing...8gb is more den goot enuff...

I believe cloud computing will stop or slow down this trend.

There is another big factor adding in these days, flash / SSD.

They are made on-board can be 64GB SSD build-in like the tablets. Soon 128 on-board. Need not buy HDD.

HDD is slow comparatively and wasteful of power to spin motor and oscillate RW head. But damn cheap these days.

;)

how much to add 2gb ram now ?

Price hor.... must see which type / speed.

There are DDR / DDR2 / DDR3

Each got different speeds e.g. DDR333 533 1666 got higher

And got to see DIMM (PC) or SODIMM (laptop) the laptops are slightly higher price.

Average DD3 is per GB S$15 or so S$53 for 4BG piece

Expensive ones are matched set / pairs with heat sinks

RAM these days got lifetime warranty damn reliable

;)

The OS always put giant upper limits.

http://www.redhat.com/rhel/compare/

Linux 64 bit (x86_64) made limits of RAM at 64TB.

Kia-Si-Lang supercomputer! :eek::eek: 吓死人!:D

Depend wat u trying 2 do...Hasselblad H4D-200MS produce 200Mpix multi shot capture...it need a min of at least 8gb ram...4get it if u attempting multi layering...CAD is another killer...but seriously not much commercial usage will ever past the 192GB limit...by den u wun b using a PC leow...:D:D

a couple of weeks ago I bought 1G for my old laptop for $90

that's expensive. 1G rams new laptops $20 @ SLS.
next time you should consider search HWZ and VRForum marketplace, think old laptop rams are around $10 there.

I'm still using Win XP. I think the maximum RAM it supports is 4 GB

A bit less than that but you will install 4GB and only a bit more than 3.5 less than 3.6GB will show up.

Funny stupid MS limitations.

Windows is also famous for memory leakage. You run out of memory because memory is not properly released ?

I usually use an Apple iBook but my iBook is getting kinda old & pokey:(
