We do not want a president that questions the nations reserves and interferes with how the PAP manages them. In short the president's job is only to pass the key on LKY's orders and no questions asked.

NS is a good concept as it involves defense of the nation. That is, it was a good concept by GKS. Today it is a bad concept as it involves defense of foreign singaporeans who reap the benefits of being a singaporean without any of its liabilities.

You always had poor power of arguing your case or viewpoint and your logic defies every principle in physics including gravity. You have very poor or little in the way of foundation to build a case let alone an argument.

You are a pious christian and ardent PAP follower. Overtime your pattern is clear - if PAP or your church takes a direction, you follow that to a fault. Then you try and justify it by by various arguments which obviously is difficult to stack up and on some occasions it does so by fluke. In technicals terms you are more into reverse engineering.

Not that PAP is stupid or poor at coming to a decision. The way you argue it, even the PAP will cringe. At least read extensively and figure out why they do certain things. It driven by agenda in the main.

My method is to make an educated guess on how he will perform in the area of independence.

Of the 3 candidates, there must be one favoured by the PAP and one least favoured. One method of voting can then be to guess the identity of the one least favoured and vote for him. This immediately creates a check-and-balance situation.

On the other hand, if you vote for the one most favoured, you need to hope that he will discharge his role independently when the time comes. In this situation, past deeds is an indicator of future deeds, as you said.

As you know, my personal criteria is that the President must be independent of the PAP and preferably independent of the oppositions. Thus if what you said is true, I say that Tony Tan is the best choice for President.

Bro, TT resigned DPM and returned to OCBC in the 1990s. In the 2000s then did he returned to DPM for a second stint. However, it's true that he remained MP all the while, whether in cabinet or as backbencher until GE 2006, when KBW took over his Sembawang seat.
