THE staff had been trained to provide better service by offering fashion advice and they had success with one notable customer on Thursday - labour chief Lim Swee Say.

He drew gasps of approval when he tried on a chic white linen blazer at fashion chain G2000's Ngee Ann City outlet.

Mr Lim had dropped by to witness the official showcase of the latest phase of the Customer-Centric Initiative (CCI) by Wing Tai Retail. It operates 16 fashion brands here, including G2000 and Topshop.

The CCI was launched in 2005 by enterprise development agency Spring Singapore and the National Trades Union Congress to help businesses provide better service.

Speaking after the shop visit, Mr Lim, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, said the initiative also raises the professional standard of the retail sector.

This in turn will help the labour-strapped industry attract and retain more workers.

It will also boost workers' real wages and meet the Government's target of a 30 per cent increase in 10 years.

I don't care much for his lame showmanship but yes, better service should lead to better wages.

He is a wanning MP and almost lose East Coast GRC to WP. I wonder why he is still so cocky and full of noises at this time.

CCI is a joke. Those training or consultancy companies are just milking the money out of gahmen. At the end of the day, train a bunch of PRC staff to be good in service, but they can't even speak basic English! Lol

How come Zorro and his gang giving us worse service, examples are worsening transport service, floods, dead bodies in drinking water and doing all sorts of tai chi, their wages also can go up?

Now Windsor statements are really good! I agree with Windsor.

How come up till now, there is no action taken by the minister pay review?

The statement, good service leads to good wages is correct, provided if there are commissions haha...
