It is not that we must get rid of it but PUB should at least try whether it works by discharging all the water collected.
If the flood continues then we know it's not the barrage problem.
Right now there are trying to improve the flood monitoring system to inform shop owners in Orchard of impending flood.
What the fuucck for? Give them time to shift out?

So simple? Before the barrage, the sea water used to flow all the way up to Kim Seng Road and Newton Circus. I know because I live next to the upper part of the Singapore River.

If Tanglin is flooded, why Stamford Road which is much closer to the Marina Reservoir, not flooded? Please go and ask your God.

So simple? might as well ask the sky to stop raining. Don't even think about it!

The MB indeed helps to prevent flooding downstream by blocking and pumping out water during high tide. However, they did no expect such a sever bottleneck effect at orchard area caused by the slower flow downstream. To increase flow, the only way is to widen stamford canal but there is not enough space throughout the entire length (deepening the existing canals is not feasible as there must be a gradient to the sea). So now really stuck. Hopefully, through data collection, they will know when to start opening gate or pumping water when there is heavy rain fall at different locations upstream - really siong.
