The first attempt to manufacture graphite sticks from powdered graphite was in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1662. It used a mixture of graphite, sulphur, and antimony.

Residual graphite from a pencil stick is not poisonous, and graphite is harmless if consumed.[8]

She's a nice lady when things are going well and routine, I enjoyed being hugged by her whenever I won something, spelling prize, drawing prize, 2nd or 3rd in class prize (regrettably and honestly, I've never won the 1st prize). She could be fierce too at times. As a little kid, when she's getting fierce, better shut up and avoid saying anything unless asked to.

Anyway, who really cares if pencils made with lead or graphite as long as they could write. It's like investigating what the tip of a matchstick is made of. Nowadays, use ballpoint pens and flint lighters.
