Singapore to merge with Malaysia

Might be an unthinkable scenario now. But in 10/20 years time this could be a reality. If merger is inevitable, then PAP and UMNO will definitely do their homework before this deal goes ahead. UMNO will most likely absorb PAP into their party if that is the case. No point getting together to fight.

The political transition will be like when East and West Germany unified in 1990.

If Malaysia opposition win how?

If Malaysia opposition win how?

Then Old man will rise from the grave and send tanks to crush this freak election.

And Najib will whip out his penile extension (aka kris) and wave it in parliament.

That will happen when Singapore is really doom to fail and has no choice but to join Malaysia in order to survive and can't survive alone. Else why would any political ruling party want to play second fiddle to another? Unless they have no choice, just like East Germany when they decided to pull down the wall.

christmas island at 135 km2 is 1/5 the size of singapore.
for a country so small, we are really stupid to sell away a territory of this size. that island is of any use to australia?

Christmas Island was transferred to Australia when they requested it from the British in 1957.

At Australia's request, the United Kingdom transferred sovereignty to Australia; in 1957, the Australian government paid the government of Singapore £2.9 million in compensation, a figure based mainly on an estimated value of the phosphate forgone by Singapore.

If you haven't notice already, it's pre-independence, we can't do anything about it although we did achieved self-governance. Technically speaking, the Brits gave it to them, nothing much to do with us. And BTW PAP only came into power in 1959 so you can't push the blame on them either

Actually, when Singapore first merge with MY, PAP was more then prepared to play 2nd fiddle to MY's central government. Just in case you guys are still wondering why there are 2 PMs in 1 country during our merger, the agreement was suppose to be that SG is an autonomous state(a bit like China and HK).

And SGreans were not given a choice for the merger. Although a referendum was held, the choices were U either choose to merge or U choose to merge

However in the end both sides didn't get the things they wanted and we split. No matter what happened or how it happened, the split was the best thing to ever happen to us. We can argue all we want about how it happen but at the end of the day, it worked out well for both parties(especially us)

Singapore to merge with Malaysia.

Any possibilities?

Singapore have faster internet, better economy and currency, better facilities and infrastructure etc but limited land area.

Malaysia have more natural resources, more land for exploitation.

Must merge, for sure. Sooner or later. Even our more dynamic and stronger sister-city, Hong Kong, knows full well she cannot survive on her own. Must have a "Khao Shan."

Sinkiepoo is not really a country. Even our Paramount Leader says so. Just refer to the latest interview in all the Sinkiepoo newspapers. All it takes is one good riot, and Sinkiepoo will sink into the ocean.:D

I think LKY at that time was tricking Umno into believing that they were willing to play second fiddle. After the merger, LKY sent Devan Nair into Malaysia and won the Malaysian general election in 1964 as a PAP member. In all frankness, I don't think LKY would play second fiddle to anyone. He might agree at first, but that was just part of a ploy to take over them eventually. That's how I see it.

You're not telling the whole story. The sale of Xmas Island was a scam involving the corrupt Chief Minister Lim Yew Hock.

You're right. Singapore was under the sultan of Johor who signed it over to Sir Stamford Raffles. That's why there's a Jalan Sultan. Behind Jalan Sultan is Aliwal Gate. Behind Aliwal Gate is the old Istana. The descendants of the sultan who chose not to return to Johor still live there.

Malacca used to have a sultan too, he was driven away by the Portugese down to Johor. The Johor sultanate was from the Malacca lineage. Then the Dutch drove the Portugese away from Malacca. Then the British came and overpowered the Dutch, though in quite a friendly rival manner. A number of exchanges took place between them, the most famous being exchanging Java for New Amsterdam, later known as New York.

Ur history failed big big time......... stop trying to smoke ur way off this time.
