Ever wondered why LWL is writing those articles in the sunday newspapers?
I'm not asking why she is able to or allowed to, we can probably guess the answer to that, but why she wants to.

I have my views, but let's hear yours.

Several weeks ago, her brother, the PM of SG, wrote in to the forum page about a discovery he had just made. He had just found out why the station master would hand a bag to the train driver / controller when the train stopped at the station. I found the fact that he wrote in to the forum page about his discovery a little strange, but not the fact that he had just made the discovery.
We make discoveries in our lives all the time, but how many of us would write in to the forum page to announce it? Very few I suspect.
Then I read his letter again and realized something. Oh, he talked about his parents taking him to watch trains when he was a boy.

Just a confession of a dimwit. Smart kids figured it out by their own functional faculties long ago. The first question to come to mind to the working mind must surely be how to prevent mistiming of trains on tracks causing accidents and switch directions safely. Ask these questions and the answers, logics and logistics fall into place.

that is the concept of signalling. I was doing signalling for North east line before, that's why I know.

As for why LWL and PM wrote in mentioning their parents. I think it's obvious. I like reading LWL's article on Sunday Times,I must admit.
But sometimes, I find that her perception is greatly influenced by the way she was brought up. She sounds very right but without her father, I doubt she can be what she is today with her eccentric character. No hard feelings, i hope!:)

There was once I picked up a uncle passenger from Geylang. We talked a lot and I told him how dulan I am with PAP. He told me that once LKY is gone,a lot more problems will surface.

I, myself think that problems will arise internally and externally. Internally, we have to watch out for the Indian Snakes, dun know why I distrust Indians a lot!

Externally, we still have issues with water supply and power issues. That's why Yacob is our water and utilities minister,ah bung and ah bung, easier to talk.

Can anyone agree with me?:)

Singapore: Flood and water bills go up. Oil prices go down and electricity bills go up.

There is one very touching story which I saw on TV not long ago:

An American went to China and got himself a local GF. This girl got into an accident and went into a coma. The Ang Mo was with her all the while. He spent all his savings on her, borrowed from friends and took on 4 jobs. She finally woke up but was unable to talk or walk properly. This Ang Mo did not desert her but instead took her for therapy and walks everyday for the next 3years.

The Ang Mo was under a lot of financial pressures so he asked his mum in US for help. His mum came to China without hesitation and helped took care of his GF. The money she bought with her was from the compensation she received from the US Army when his other son was killed in Iraq.

The girl had asked the guy to leave her several times as she thought she was a burdan and the Ang Mo & mum had no reason to treat her so well since they are only lovers. The Ang Mo finally left her as he knew that was what she wanted. If you love someone, you gotta set them free. He said that although they are no longer lovers, she will always be her sister.

Very old fashion story but I was very touched.................

Your story is proof that there are really good hearted people in this world.
But this is detracting from the original topic of this thread.
In fact, some might say that it is a total contrast.........................

i am quite touched by this story, one of the better movies that touched me in recent years. (Marley & Me) depicting a dog is a man's best friend.

Surely the SG guy must have known that this was a possible outcome?
Or is he an eternal optimist? Or simply a fool?
Whatever it is, he must have got some benefits out of the marriage. Otherwise, why get married?
