Chitchat What did you do during your NS

I have my maid to report for duty on my behalf and she did an outstanding job according to the OC.

I think NS was a very good experience for Singaporean males.
Anyone remember Peng Kang Hill

After watching the video my tears just roll down not because I am sad but I am so proud as a Singaporean . A small nation with different race and religion but we stand together and protect and fight for this country.

Just saw a post in wechat, telling a story of how a soldier died during topo in Tekong Island. I replied to him during my NS, I did my field camp in Tekong, and stayed at Camp 1 barrack.
Told him that the beach is 'dirty',
heard many stories that many people were executed there during Jap's occupation, he said there was no execution, how can he be too sure, surely there was some sources of these things happening.

Assholes who are PES C say it's a good experience. People who are PES A know it's a pissing waste of time.

combat medic life back in the 90s was stress... because we faced real life threatening cases everyday...

We had limited experience and had to act like experienced life savers and doctors... to maintain a sound mind in all the soldiers...

One wrong move and one life lost... my unit 1 SIR lost a valuable life during my time... and u the medic will go DB and squad for years...

i save a few lives but i doubt they remember or even know i save them.... Thank god they are alive!

were you in the NS dog unit

What happen?

My vocation is a secret, and I was put into a classified unit.

Why classified? Because the whole point of NS training is to prepare for war (i.e. we attack first, not we wait for them to attack and we defend) against a certain imaginary enemy which I shall not name here. All the military ops and tactics are based on this.
Friend of every one stew can have any me? :o-o:

Best vocation during NS is either being a clerk or storeman
Eben a lazy storeman comprain about others
lol

NSF STOREMAN DULAN WITH ALL THE CHAO KENGS TAKING 3 DAYS MC EVERY WEEK

How do you all do quiet quitting?

Just for context, I’m an NSF who is a storeman.

For the past 1 year that I’ve been in NS, I’ve always tried to do things to the best of my ability (foolish of me, I know) and took over the duties of other NSFs whenever they go on MC.

However, there will always be a bunch of NSFs in my unit who will take at least 3 days of MC every bloody week.

The thing that really pisses me off is that I always have to take over their duties and basically work from book in timing to book out timing. This happens every fking time they go on mc. What were they doing while on MC? Going out and having fun while I’m slogging away in camp

I tried studying stuff in camp but I’m just so busy up to the point that i dont have the time to study, or I’m just tired af. I don’t really want to ck and go on MC for weeks on end cause my supervisors are really nice (they even gave me a few off days because of my work).

Can I have some suggestions from yall? I feel quite stressed out on those days because of this

  1. Not a bad idea to have a chat with your commanders about how you’re feeling. If they are understanding, I’m sure they’d know what to do.
Otherwise, do try to do the bare minimum that would let you do what you want, whilst also doing you are supposed to.0
  2. I’m an ASA and I feel your pain man. It seems like your Superiors are nice though. The fact that they give you Offs for the work done. For me, I don’t get any offs despite booking out late on multiple occasions to get certain tasks completed.
Because I was also stupid and foolish to do things to the best of my ability, I suffered 2 mental breakdowns till the point that I went nuts in the office. Threw stuff and yelled vulgarities.
If you’re just not feeling it and you need a break, just take MC bro. Nobody is going to fault you and don’t even feel bad about doing it. Prioritise yourself first. Just take the MC but of course don’t go and take MC for 3 – 4 days consecutively
  3. Been there before, brother. Try talking to your direct superiors about it, and if nothing changes, go up the chain of command to your DY or something. See if you can have them arrange house visits to those ck people. If they really are out having fun while they’re supposed to be on MC, they’ll sure kena some punishment one. Might even go straight to DB iirc.

90% of the time we sit around doing nothing wait for instructions.
When the instructions come, we argue back all the nonsensical things that may go wrong.
Messenger of the instructions go back to clarify with higher ups.
Then we wait again.
Round and round it went.
NS could actually be cut short to 6 months.
Just like in Semicon Fab waiting and queue for measurement tools mah…but in fab u can sian beautiful operators
