Can S'pore make car ownership fairer for the middle class?

Based on current prices, we have approached the day when only the top earners are able to possess a car. This makes car ownership even more attractive to those who can afford it. COE prices continue to climb, pricing out the average middle-class family. Owning a car is now an unrealistic dream for 90% of S'poreans. Is there a fairer way to distribute the limited number of COEs, or should it continue to be down to affordability?

I don't think the roads able to support the rising number of cars (SG supposedly has a lot of millionaires). Even though I cannot afford an effing car myself.

I think there should be a special consideration for people who has wheelchair bound elderly parents or immediate family members. Or those who are handicapped but still able to ride those wheelchair accessible motorbike. I remembered somewhere ard before 2010, these type of motorbikes were semi common.

Unfortunately, I doubt they would even consider such suggestions.

The govt has made it crystal clear that it is not their duty to make private homes and cars affordable to the masses.

They never make it clear. They're smokers. For COE when it first came out, I remembered. Loosely paraphrasing: "To curb / control the number of cars / traffic congestion on the road" HDB owners are termed "home owners" when even the blind and deaf know they're a leasee. Uniquely Singapore.

In South Australia, I can buy a used drivable car (usually a camry late 90s model, still in good shape with 200km millage) for $2000+, road tax $700+, best of all no COE! lololol Somemore, I can directly use my SG license! lololol!

If S'pore has the land area of Peninsula Malaysia, SG PMEs would all be able to afford landed homes and condos while maintaining 2 cars.
