Honestly, I would say they're trying to upsell daily food fare at atas pricing to cover the rents. They should have stuck to hawker centres and coffeeshops.

I hope that the closure of more small businesses will send a strong signal to landlords to lower their rental or be prepared to have more empty commercial units.

When the self is real, the soul is never free. The spirit of 躺平 is NOT to save cost, but to be free from the shackles of society.

The mineral water sold at coffeeshop is not cheap either.
I rather find water at a later time as we are not desperate till dehydrated or what. No emergencies at all.

Yes. At times when there is really a need to have some water to swallow medicine or the food i ate at the coffee shop, I would just go to the nearest toilet to rinse some water into my mouth and swallow some of it just enough to quench the thirst.
Then go back home to drink properly.
I have been doing this for decades, since the day I became a wise men.
I can't leemember how much I have let the drinks seller earned less by now.
If everybody do this, by now I don't think there will anymore drinks stall outside.
