Hmm, are you a Spore citizen?
I noticed that people who can't win arguments in internet forums use this as their rebutting argument.
"I'm arguing against your arguments, so I must be working for the ones your arguments are trying to bring down."
Premise:
- You are complaining that the passport validity of 5 years is too short and unjustified.
- I offer you the logical reason why 5 years is as such.
Conclusion:
- I must be a non-Singaporean citizen (or working for the gahmen).
This has got to be one of the most lame premise/arguments I always come across on the Internet.
As for your questions:
1. If Spore passport are so easily forged why bother to introduce the new(now standard) more expensive passports with a chip?
In this digital world, forgers and authorities are always playing a cat and mouse game.
Take for example things like Microsoft windows or the locked iPhone. As soon as it is released, there are piracy groups who released hacks on the same day to unlock them. Does that mean Microsoft or Apple should say "oh well, they'll get us in the end always, let's just give up and let them release these hacks."
Same as these passports: So you're saying since the passports are "so easily forged", the authorities should just give up and let the forgers fill the black market with forged passports. Yes?
Or, by following your logic, here is a question for you to answer:
Since crimes are so easily committed (you can just walk up to anyone and commit robbery by taking their wallets) on the streets, why should we have any law enforcement at all? We should not have any police existing in our society at all, since crimes are so easily committed.
2. If it was a problem why no stories in papers about forged Spore passports?
All kinds of news happen everyday. You're sitting in the comfort of your own room being a keyboard warrior. People out there are trading cash for drugs, for bribes, for sex, for all sorts of illegitimate reasons.
Things happen all the time, but this does not mean the newspapers must report each and every single incident going on. Excluding it by not reporting it also does not mean it has not happened.
Mind you, I am only telling you why the validity is reduced from 10 years to 5 years. As for the cost of renewing the passport, that is another argument which I have no interest in pursuing with you. Nor am I for (or against) anything related to the costs of renewing a passport.
