He can't be too assertive, or he'll be out. That's the sad reality.
In my opinion, only he and Lily Neo seem willing to really speak out against government policy and speak up for the people.
Most of the others seem to simply go through the motions.

I miss Tan Soo Koon. He was threw out by LHL leadership because LHL cannot take stress from him for being direct and vocal against bad policies. Fortunately, Singaporeans no longer buy into PAP leadership now. Singapore is in a stage of mess and falling apart. We are united and counting down to a swift and decisive election for a new beginning, once and for all good of the Republic of Singaporeans.

C'mon guys, he may not be true blue Oppo but I sense he speaks with his conscience, which the majority of PAP MPs don't.

I'm also not saying it's so ok now with dissenting voices within PAP that we dont have to vote more Opps. Sure we have to.

How far out depends on the class of licence and insurance LHL gives him. He's not only PAP, he's in AMK GRC. It's quite a joke to elect a team of six MPs to disagree with each other, one of them being PM. Go figure.

Its so obvious, the game plan has now suddenly shifted towards speaking up on matters that has been irking the people, who has spoken up against such policies for the longest time. If the PM or some other ministers are displeasured by some backbenchers' acts or comments, they don't approach or reproach the offending backbenchers directly. They give the briefings to the Whip who would go and sort it out with the backbenchers, then report back and/or take appropriate action. The Whip has power up to recommending that any backbench MP be removed, especially in GRCs where no by-election is required. In SMCs, it's rare or never. They'd just sideline the offending backbencher and wait for the next GE.

A failed PAP MP aspirant once told me that one of the virtues that the PAP looks for in potential candidates is the ability to "toe the party line". Some of them like Inderjit are given some leeway to criticise without driving too large a stake into the issue. Just enough to give the impression that the PAP has within it's ranks enough "opposition" to keep itself clean and accountable. I believe this is what often leads to the idea that the PAP will "split" into two camps once the old man dies.

He only became "vocal" after he "stepped down" as the speaker of parliament.
It's disappointing that even someone like you is not clear about this, although I do appreciate your clarity on other matters.

You remembered wrongly. It was Inderjit Singh who "saboed" James Gomez in GE 2006, quoting that Gomez has "wayanged". Davinder Code has to do with his inside info in the NKF / T.T. Durai case.

He was a group of early batches of NTU student leaders identified by then PAP MP Yeo Choo Kok who was also director of Student Affairs at NTU. The first NTU student president Sinnakaruppan became an MP for 2 terms, followed by Inderjit Singh and then Lee Bee Wah. Only the 2nd Student Union president Mohd Akbar though groomed and a PAP member did not make the cut.

The desire then was a desire to push NTU and its student into the limelight and build a network. NUS already had Viv Balakrishnan, Simon Tay already in the mix.

These groups were given some level of independence. MP Yeo Choo Kok was posted there for a purpose.
