Is it true that as one ages, the desire to buy branded goods decreases?

Just a year or two ago, I went shopping and my friends followed me.
One asked me, "Brand X is more expensive than Brand Y, so Brand Y is 'more branded' right?", looking at the store on the left and right.
He's not educated enough (through no fault of his own) and worked hard for relatively little.
His desire tells him one thing, his pocket is telling him another.
I finally thought of a suitable answer for him.

"Don't compare brands like this, it's not meant to be in the first place. If you like an item and you have the money, go buy it now! But do you really like it? If you like it enough, it's well worth the money (not 'your money') but you must like it enough! If you don't have enough, go earn it."

I looked at the way he look an item in another store, I know he likes that brand. While choosing betwen models, all of which are pretty expensive to him, I gave him the final push because he lacked the courage, "buy it!", I said and he did.

Not anymore. The boxer engine is practically bullet proof, the CVT gearbox is smooth and reliable. They are one of the best selling cars in North America, made in the US. Toyota has proven reliability and good resale. Conti cars, I've had my fun and heartaches. They generally run too hot in our climate, high wear and tear on gaskets, rubber parts. If it wasn't oil leak, it was water leak. KNN!
The Subaru bassy growl is to die for....Too bad the modern Legacy looks too Toyota-ish. Missed the frameless windows, superb sound-system and the nimble performance of the earlier AWD Legacy.

I like the earlier Legacy too, especially the station wagon. Looked fierce, sounded fierce and goes like a rocket (with a little mod).

Jap cars bro. They are the only way. Korean cars also not too bad, I think.
I own a 2005 Kia Magentis (the ones used as taxis) and am very impressed with the European kind of performance. Handling is really good, very similar to my pevious ride, the Ford Mondeo. Steering is extremely communicative, unlike the soul-less, light Legacy which I test-drive on several occasions.

Yes, KIA has come a long way. Their performance and looks are impressive.

I love cornering with this car. No need to tap brakes....
One of my friends had a Legacy GT wagon during the mid 2000s. Modded it and tricked it out. I loved it, but never got the chance to own one His looked something like this, but in metallic gun metal. And with the mandatory gold wheels!

I had great emotional attachment with that car. Been through thick and thin with me for 10 years.

Subaru Legacy is the 卧虎藏龙 kind of car. Mundane on the outside but monster on the inside. Won't attract a lot of attention either.

I think that's the point. Modern subaru is more of a Toyota than a trad Subaru. Leads to more sales and more money. Toyota owns a significant chunk of Subaru no?

Yes. That's probably why the new Subs look like their Toyota cousins. In other words, the Subara character is no longer there.
maybe that's why I like them more now....:laugh:

Of course, I also like when Subaru's first started being performance cars. GC Imprezas and the B4 RSK. I really, really liked the B4 RSK. Then the mid-00s subarus were meh... Now I like them as toyota-likes because I'm old now...

Hi! Thank you for your nice words!

This is Don, the designer of this shoe! This is my first ready to wear, Patina shoe collection!

Yep, branded shoes nowadays tend to skew quite high in price for the quality they give!

I think what OP is referring to when he meant branded is the "luxury" or "designer" brands.

In context to shoes, brands like "Prada" or "Ferragamo" are considered "designer luxury" brands.

While in terms of "objective quality" like materials and construction, you can most definitely get better bang for your buck but i guess when it comes to shopping, a lot of it is emotional also?

So i guess that's why people buy them?
