It looks like some parts of the universe are coming to their senses but the depth of human stupidity is still reverberating around the world.

That is wonderful news. Now all you need to do is email all 217 nations of the world and ask them to allow travel again. Let us know how that goes.

From a personal viewpoint I'd be very happy if not a single tourist set foot in NZ for the next 2 years or even longer. Unfortunately so many businesses depend upon tourism that not many would share my enthusiasm for a bit of peace and quiet.

My first trip to Queenstown was in 2004. I loved it to death.

My last trip was in 2014 and I swore I would never set foot in that awful place ever again. It was overrun by the most obnoxious tourists on earth. The ambience was absolutely ruined. Even the tourist outlets had sold their souls in exchange for the tourist dollar.

They'll now have to depend on people like me again. I'll be making a trip there in a couple of months for a winter escapade.

Looks like a place very similar to our Banff National Park area. Lakes. Ski area. But smaller.

nurses in the bay area are furloughed and having a tough time finding work. not kidding. majority of hospitals are empty as both outpatient and inpatient visits have declined precipitously. patients infected with the ccp virus are quarantined in only a few hospitals but every hospital is affected due to patients who are not infected cancelling or postponing both essential and elective surgeries and treatments. meanwhile those few hospitals that are dedicated for infected patients are relatively empty as more patients recover and less newly infected patients show up for hospitalization. in fact number of hospitalization cases has decreased to a point where healthcare workers far outnumber patients by an absurd margin. nurses from other hospitals who are laid off wish to help out but are told their services are not needed as there are already too many around so much so that hospitals used for isolation may have to lay off some. it really boggles the mind that this shenanigan is going on.

My first trip to Queenstown was in 2002.
A fucking magical town in a magical country.

No one who go there in last 5 years , and never been there before, can imagine how Queenstown was like in early 2000s

The only Queenstown I have visited is the one in which Queensway Shopping Centre is located.

Ha ha ha ha!
That Queenstown Boss and I talked about definately did not have Queensway Shopping Centre with the fabulous Jangut Laksa inside.
Even if the Queenstown now got shopping center in the years since I been there, I doubt they have laksa or sell shoes there

I want the gym to open again. Without a steady flow of gym girls to oogle at, my sex drive declines. That is bad.

You do sound like an introverted freak so your opinion does not carry any weight.

How can tat be when the lockdowns was to prevent hospitals from being flooded and prevent deaths etc? In addition the media has been saying the usa has the highest infection rate n highest death rate and ppl are dying on the street etc. So all the medical staff are needed...something is wrong if they got no work...or the virus is not as deadly as it's made it up to be

it’s not just the bay area where the curve is flattening. it’s all over the cuntry including smaller hospitals in rural and farm areas.

The virus is not deadly in most cases.

It is inconsistent. It is the luck of the draw.

The problem is the doctors who called for lockdown and ordered it ie al these chief medical officers will not eat humble pie and say they were wrong. They will cite cases to support their opinions.

Media will report cases of young people who die. Very rare.

This shows how stupid the medical system is. Full of bias and personal opinions.
