The MRT is one place where mask is essential.

If you don't drive and have to take the subway, that;s one inconvenience you have to bear with

There's no point wearing the mask without eye protection because the easiest route to the respiratory system is via the eyes. Tear ducts drain directly into the sinuses.

If someone in the same carriage who is infected sneezes the droplets containing the corona virus will be sprayed far and wide and enter the eye. The eye's natural response is to produce tears which will then drain into the nasal cavity via the Nasolacrimal duct thereby transporting the virus to the respiratory system where it can start to do its damage.

Nasolacrimal duct

The nasolacrimal duct carries tears from the lacrimal sac of the eye into the nasal cavity. The duct begins in the eye socket between the maxillary and lacrimal bones, from where it passes downwards and backwards. The opening of the nasolacrimal duct into the inferior nasal meatus of the nasal cavity is partially covered by a mucosal fold. Excess tears flow through nasolacrimal duct which drains into the inferior nasal meatus.More at Wikipedia

Proper protection requires a fitted N95 mask plus air tight goggles. Otherwise you might as well not bother. Wearing a surgical mask without eye protection isn't just an inconvenience it's pretty much useless.

This is the level of protection required to protect medical personnel from being infected by patients.

On the other hand surgical masks only protect patients from being infected by medical professionals during surgery. That is why they are called SURGICAL masks.

That is why the only time surgical masks are useful is when a person is sick. It will reduce the viral load of each cough and sneeze somewhat and hopefully reduce the probability of infecting others.

Don't forget to do the magical dance that wards off the coronavirus.

When you got for a haircut, ensure that the barbers keep a safe distance:

It's not about full protection. It's about reducing the viral load you are exposed to so as to give your immune system an easier test.

There are too many people having plegmy coughs on the tube.

So having our own transport is still the safest. Specifically, PMDs. No virus, no carbon emissions, no worries.

A PMD would be by far the best option. That is why I have consistently condemned the curbing of PMD use.

The protection is so minimal that it won't make much difference to the viral load. My suggestion is to wear goggle as well. Why practise tokenism? Opt for proper protection instead.

I appreciate the usefulness and viability of PMDs, we just need licensed riders. Treat them as we would motorcycles since they should only be used on roads. Licensing, tax, mandatory helmets, etc.

Stupid infantile discussions .

All needed will be a good Fu

To be doubly safe if you kiasu, use 2 fu

And use cowdung to stick the fu to your forehead for lagi even more protection.

Very chun chun
Betterer than googles and N95
