Jewel is overhyped. It is nothing but an expensive shopping mall with the makan and retail shops. It is going to be very expensive to maintain. In a few yrs, Jewel is gg to be a financial burden like the Sports Hub and Gardens by the Bay. Looks like these mega projects are nothing but to allow big contracts to be awarded to cronies

Former outdoor carpark couldn't make much money. Jewel has more than 200 shops collecting rentals. NTUC sits at the basement and is the anchor tenant. The only thing lacking is a proper departmental store.

whether overhyped or not sinkies continue to flock there for ac, look see look see, and makan. for sinkies, nothing much to do in sg, no where cool to go to, must smell new paint and walk around new floors mah. unfortunately this is life of a sinkie in sg.
