I understand that Dr M has stopped the MM2H programme/visa. Does anyone have any inkling of the impact?

Looks like things are going downhill for the foreigners aspiring to live in JB. Perhaps sinkies may one day be driven back to sinkieland.

If Dr M is truly xenophobic, his administration may tighten their social visit passes for sinkies eventually. The fact that MACS has been cancelled is probably just the first step.

Anyway let's see how things will progress later. The most just move back to sinkieland and prepare for emigration if kena kicked out. :roflmao::mad::roflmao::mad::sneaky:

I am only renting a house at east ledang but with Dr M's hostile attitude towards foreigners, I am still wondering whether to buy a house in JB eventually or not.

I can share my experience with regard to the MAC thingy. I didn't bother to apply for MAC until a few months ago. During the period when my entire family and me were without the MAC, we would only exit close to 30 days and return to jb on the same day. Everything went well for the first few months until we were questioned twice for our 'long' stay of 28 days or so. Once an immigration officer refused to let me enter JB cos he said that the law had required me to stay in spore for at least one week and I could only stay for three weeks in Msia. I had to resort to tears before he changed his mind and let me enter JB.

Becos of the above incident, I shortened our duration of stay to three weeks and still kena being questioned once or twice. Subsequently, I shortened our stay to two weeks and there was no questioning. Now with the MAC thingy, everything is a breeze. Once our MACS expire next year, we may have to move back to spore if we are no longer welcomed.

You mean you cried in the room in front of the encik or at counter? Your macs valid until when? I think there is no chance of avoiding questions if you enter and exit everyday after macs expire but if you enter 21 days then exit and return few days later, could have better chance.

Any responsible immigration officer looks out for same day reentry into jb. After all macs expire, it would be very difficult to explain why there are 5 of such chops in a row, assume you go in and out on weekdays. Encik did say there is no regulation on the total number of days a foreigner can 'stay in jb'. But of course they have the absolute discretion to decide.

As mentioned by the poster above, the officer said 3 weeks in jb then one in singapore but each person could have his or her understanding. After all macs expire, it would for sure be very difficult to stay liao but it depends.....

I think people have to learn to accept there is no basis for a singaporean to stay in jb without mm2h or PR or some kind of permit. No country in the world allows this. But if you only stay 2 to 3 days a week and own a property, there should be no issue as even singapore might allow that.

Hi all, i called up IRDA, the MACS is still suspended at this time (they are waiting for instructions). Meanwhile, the officer informed me that even Long Term Social Visit Pass holders also need to stamp their passport at this time. Actually come to think of it, not just myself but a few others had stayed a few years before even applying for the MACS many years ago. As long as you don't make the visa run that obvious or overstay, (u turn back on the 29th day) don't really see any issue.

Anyhow my MACS has expired but i am still traveling in and out every other week. Will update if i run into any issues. Even in the past with MACs, i had the occasional funny character accusing me of overstaying and asking when i came in or out. After a quick update on dates, i was let in without fuss.

It is important to note that every country's immigration department has the right to refuse entry to anyone, even with a valid/approved visa or supporting documents.

Yup cos the officer refused to let me enter and kept on shaking his head. He asked me what I was doing in JB so I told him a sad but true story, hence the tears. :roflmao: He was so shocked that I had cried but somehow the tears softened his stance and he allowed me in. I met him again about two months later and he still could remember me. His colleague too. They remembered me cos of my tears. :roflmao:

I cried at the counter. I did my mac only recently and just before the mac was cancelled so still got a number of months left.

Yup, will definitely be questioned when without the mac. The worst scenario is move back to sinkieland. :x3:

Actually when I saw him for the second time, I was very worried that he wouldn't let me into JB. However, he actually smiled at me and asked me if I was ok. I replied not ok and he let me in after saying some inconsequential stuff.

Try to keep some stuff in singapore with a friend. Do not keep everything in jb. When i was refused entry, i had only my wallet, 50 dollars, phone and the clothes I was wearing. Liddat if you are ever refused entry at least you still have some stuff in singapore.

Encik in office no give chance one.

Many thanks for your advice, bro. Much appreciated.

The truth is I have a flat in spore but I don't like living there, hence my long sojourn in JB.

Now that you have moved back to spore, do you miss life in JB?

You pull a similar stunt with US immigration officer, you get ban for life!

When I moved to jb in 2011, it was not by choice, my brother told me to leave.

How long have you been staying in JB? You don't have to exit everyday right? You only leave JB once in a few weeks ah? Just use macs for now and see how...
