Recently when I went back home to JB with my family the CIQ officer said that we have no permit to stay in JB and can charge us with illegal staying. Is that just trying to scare us or is that really the case? We did not overstay the 30 days allowed by the social visit stamp per entry so I can't see where the illegal stay part is. Anyway the MM2H is not a financially feasible option for me now. Have you had the same experience before? Should remain calm or panic?
Rightfully, they have the right to intervene you because the normal 30-day limit is for social visit (as already stated in the stamp). An immigration officer once told me that out of the 30-day limit, Singaporeans are only allowed to reside for a maximum of 21 days per calendar month. But I don't know if this is his idea or is official? As for me I don't have this problem because we have both MACS and MM2H.

You should have planned to apply for the MM2H when you first step in to buy your house in JB because it will then give you a peace of mind in case they flip their policies, especially when Mahathir is now the new PM. You will know that he always has an axe to grind with Singapore when he was the PM previously. So, history may repeats itself again.

Lack of finances to apply for MM2H leh
Yes, I understand your case. Anyway, just have to take it 1 step at a time now. I don't think they'll (customs officers) bother too much except for some who are "red-eyed" against Singaporeans. However, the safer bet will still be to eventually apply for MM2H, especially if you already have committed to 2 houses here in JB.

In the meantime, as what Sunriver said, it's better to get everyone on MACS so that the Customs Officers won't get to see the "so many stamps" on their passports and raising suspicions. After all, it's only RM30 per person as you can apply for it at the IRDA office at Danga Bay.

Can pm me the agent u used for your MM2H application. Tks.
The agents are charging a bomb. At least RM8k alone just for their services, excluding the MM2H Visa fees, insurance, heath checks, lawyer's endorsement of your certificates and passports, etc.

Nowadays, it's not difficult to apply by DIY. I have just renewed mine after 10 years and I did it all by myself. Visit the official MM2H website to find out. The only difficulty is having to make a few trips to Putrajaya for this. There are also a few agents in JB doing this. Just GOOGLE for them. Their fees are almost the same +/- 10% maybe.

I wish I knew about MM2H and applied for it before I retired. I could've easily fulfilled the financial requirements. Now I find that I can't meet the RM10K income/mth requirement. I'm thinking to get a temp job, say 6mths contract, with salary above this requirement. It's OK right? I only need show them past 3 mths pay slip and it doesn't matter if its a temp job? I haven't been working for a few years now and I dun need the salary

P/S: The main reason I want MM2H visa is because I like to try living in Penang/KL, which is too far to do border run. Otherwise I can just chance it with Macs card if living in JB.

The RM10k monthly income can include your passive income (eg: rentals). You will also need to show your 3 months bank account statement to verify that you have that amount being credited as your income. There's also the RM300k fixed deposit requirement and also RM150k (my time was RM60k) of which must be retained from the 2nd year and thereafter, throughout the period of your MM2H duration. All these requirements and pre-qualifications details can be found in their official MM2H website. I'll still say that you can do it DIY. Pay a visit to their office in Putrajaya and talk to their officer. Some are quite helpful to assist you (as in my case when I did my renewal). He'd even told to me that "it's not difficult and you can definitely renew it by yourself".

For me, I will wait till I hit 50 years old then I will apply. Once hit 50 years old, the amount required will be half.

Looks like this thread intends to hide the truth of Malaysian crimes and traits by removing my posts. Low class trait of gloating with glee and delight in YouTube after stealing my photos. Shameless thieves slanderers and harassers Malaysian criminals.

I read that the MM2H dept has been informing the agents verbally that they are planning to increase the requirements mid this year. For fixed deposit, it's going to be raised to Rm 500K for everybody, whether <50 or >50 yo. So it's best you apply soonest under the current requirements if it's not too late.

Tks for info. The Rm10K/mth is a hurdle in the immediate future for me. I'm a cash rich but income poor investor, so I've to work out something. In any case, there are proposed changes to the MM2H scheme and I read that for those >60yo, no longer need to have Rm10K/mth income, just place FD haha. So worst come to worst, I just wait a few more years. In the meantime, its JB and Macs card

With the 0% Gst starting in June, will it be a good time to whack all the electrical appliances while waiting for my house to be VP in Aug/Sep? Can the sellers deliver after finish renovation which will be November ?

If really is 500k, then I will stick with MACS. How abt those that have to renew after 10 years ?

Kcwx35: U mean whether they hv to go with latest requirements or the initial requirements when renewing? Maybe Winners can enlighten us.

Actually, I think the Thai retirement visa system is easier to administer, whereby u just show deposit in Thai bank of 800K Baht to get the annual retirement visa. This MM2H system requires too much documentation, processing etc but at end of day, the only thing important is that the retiree has enough money to support himself in Msia so just simply hv FD good enough haha. Or put another way, I wish Msia hv a separate system for retirees, instead of MM2H which is broader in scope.

As for buying appliances, not sure why u want to buy first, since warranty starts from purchase date, not delivery date. Anyway, in JB, Electronik Keck Seng @Nusa Bestari carries a wide range.

To save on the 6% GST and before the SST which will implement within 3 months after removing the gst. Confirm warranty is based on purchase date and not delivery date?

Yeah. If u notice, all those warranty cards you fill in, they always ask for purchase date.
