As long as you're a Pinky porlumpar or crony, you'll be guaranteed a hefty pay raise even if your performance on the job is way, way below standard (read: incompetent).

Wanna who is this super porlumpar?

The reporter, Christopher Tan, is to be commended for pointing out:

1. Desmond's pay has doubled in less than 3 years;
2. Desmond's renumeration ($2.2 - $2.5 million) is larger than his counterpart ($1.7 - $2 million, a renumeration that has no changed in recent years) in ComfortDelgro;
3. ComfortDelgro posted a turnover of $4.05 billion and profit of $283.5 million while SMRT showed revenue of $1.24 billions and and profit of $91 million;
4. Temasek is badly run and exemplified by its subsidiary SMRT.

That is insightful reporting which sinkees need more. Sadly, Christopher Tan will be getting a threatening call from Ho Jinx soon.

SMRT director told The Straits Times that Mr. Kuek's renumeration is "benchmarked to peer companies ...and is competitive and at a responsible level.

SMRT needs to clarify what it means by:

"benchmarked to peer companies" as the report shows that Desmond is overpaid for accomplishing so little.

"is competitive" when it is obvious that SMRT is overpaying a CEO for non-performance;

"responsible level" - how is SMRT being responsible when it can't explain its reason for overpaying for non-performance.

if cronies are competitive, then why did papee have to release 1.2 bil to help them buy buses despite the fact that they are listed companies, did the state get any shares issued for the 1.2 bil?
