China is expected to overtake USA as the world's biggest economy by 2016.

Russia and China are growing closer and stepping up co-operation.

USA has a debt of US$16trillion.

USA is in decline.

Singapore, under the pap, is sucking up to USA for the last 45years.

Will the PAP wither when USA withers?

2016 seems an inauspicious year for USA and the PAP

World's biggest economy means jackshit. China is not a naval power yet. For the next 20 years they will be focussed on protecting the borderlands and on income disparity causing massive social instability. Don't worry a thing. The Americans will still be calling the shots.

quite true...but do you see a USA in decline?

it took the Roman Empire 1000yrs depending on what the source of the Infor. is, to collapse!! I do not see this to be the case with the USA. The dynamics involved now is totally different from when the Roman Empire existed and collapsed. So to answer your question, If ever, the USA is not a Declining power, and I shudder to think otherwise!

good analysis..i hope you are right, but i do see the usa in decline both economically and politically

As George Friedman says, deep power does not dissipate that easily. I'd be more worried about the adventurism of our two neighbours.

quite true.....but USA is facing challenges on the economic, geo political and military fronts.

It has to face a resurgent China, a notorious N Korea, uncertain Middle East, its own economic uncertainties, etc.

If US decline, it will drag everyone along, so not even China wish for that to happen, at least not in the near future, till today, All attempts to unseat the US$ failed.

The modern chess game is played differently.

Those are small matters. Watch Russia pull Ukraine and others into its orbit. That will be the battle stage for the next 2 decades. A rematch of the cold war. Stay tuned!

Quite true..but the past may not be agood predictor of the future.

The USA has manipulated the UN, World Bank, IMF etc for the past 40years and they have incurred many countries hatred and disdain.

Countries like Cuba, Venezula, N Korea . Iran, Iraq, etc hate the USA and will celebrate shd the USA fall. The fall of USA may not be imminent but may be sooner than what many people thought. With its economic problems and China/Russia on good terms...it is hard to predict USA's future.

I agree...the future will not be dictated by the USA.

SG and LKY have been kowtowing to the USA for the past 40years, incurring the dislike of our neighbours. If USA's glory dims, SG will suffer collateral damage

Agree...the resurgence of USSR?

and with China on Russia's side and western europe in chaos, USA can be in deep trouble.

Will USA's sixth fleet and seven fleet be able to do its job?

The US's strength lies not just in its naval power, but also its ability to maintain a balance of power between conflicting countries either through enforcing peace, or instigating war. George Bush Jr was a bad president because he failed in that respect. Let's see if the one after Obama will do a better job.

Yes you are spot on about the UN, WB, IMF, etc being american proxies. And the hatred part is real. But when it comes down to the crunch, political leaders base their decision on cold hard economics. Sorry, in this world money talks and bullshit walks.

good points...thanks.

but from what's happening, USA may be affected more by external factors. If the next President to be elected 2016 is weak , it will accelerate the decline of the usa.

Agree...but China is becoming more confident, is getting richer and is reaching out to asian and african countries. In contrast, USA allies are faltering. The fortunes have reversed

The pap has to learn from what is happening to the USA.

The pap learnt from the USA and manipulated the PA, Elections Dept, gerrymandered for the past 40years.

The USA's policies are failing. Likewise the pap's policies are failing too
