Despite having 8 MPs in parliament, Vichy WP has been sleeping and idling in parliament most of the time, without ever really slapping the PAP. Instead it has been rubber-stamping almost every single PAP legislation.
SDP, with its hardcore relentless criticism of PAP, will provide an alternative Opposition voice for the Singaporean. Instead of hearing Vichy “Opposition party” praising, echoing and sucking up to the PAP as well as asking trivial questions, people will hear the genuine criticism and slapping of PAP by a genuine Opposition.
If just 1 single SDP MP can do a better job than 8 Vichy WP MP, it would wake up Vichy WP and force them to take their Opposition duty more seriously. Hammerrhoid zombies have been smoking that 8 Vichy WP MPs are too few to face up against 80-odds PAP MPs. Yet, history has shown that 1 single Spirit of Anson is far more threatening to the PAP regime and fare more productive than 8 or more Vichy WP Dwarfs. Quality, and not quantity, is the issue.
Singapore will then benefit from having 2 Opposition parties with 2 distinctively different style, competing with each other to slap the PAP for voters’ support, though one will be doing more passively and reluctantly. Voters can then see and hear for themselves to decide which kind of Opposition politics they prefer: the Vichy appeasement style fronted by WP or the Churchillian Never To Surrender style championed by SDP.
Voters can then decide which kind of Opposition to support in GE2016……Perhaps this is the real reason and the greatest fear for Vichy WP which is so determined to block any credible genuine Opposition from getting into Punggol East, even if it were to field another unworthy Chao Ah Lian: To stop any genuine Opposition members from getting into parliament who would then expose their hypocrisy and impotence, and that they are just a bunch of “Opposition” without any clothes.
