SDP in parliament will wake WP up

I too feel CSJ has been given a raw deal by the fecal matter floating in the toilet bowl that is sg politics

he comes across as a very eloquent and intelligent guy, I hope he gets into parl.

To have a simple life in 3 room HDB is not like living in Istana, there are many kind souls in Singapore and around the world who would give the righteous thinking Dr Chee their support, that is how the world moves,God bless, amen

No one kick CST out of SDP. He resigned and walked out.

You are correct. Technically.

SDP CEC/CSJ only attempted to expel CST first, but failed. Then CST left SDP on his own. For no good reason. Of course.

In 1992, Chiam recruited Chee Soon Juan, a psychology lecturer at the National University of Singapore, to be an SDP candidate for a by-election in the Marine Parade Group Representation Constituency. Although the SDP was unsuccessful in the by-election, the recruitment of Chee as a candidate generated considerable public interest. However differences between Chiam and Chee soon emerged. Chee was sacked from his job as a university lecturer in 1993, and publicly claimed that he had been the victim of a political vendetta by the governing People's Action Party (PAP). Chiam wanted to censure Chee for these comments, but the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC) backed Chee. Chiam then resigned as Secretary-General of the party, and was replaced by Chee. The CEC attempted to expel Chiam from the party after he publicly criticised them, but he won a court case to prevent them from doing so on procedural grounds. However the CEC appointed Ling How Doong to replace Chiam as the party's parliamentary leader.

Anyone can write a wikipedia entry and there could be different interpretations of historical events. As far as I remember it, CST criticised CSJ for going on hunger strike. Some other Sporns also felt a hunger strike was inappropriate and simply a publicity stunt, a view which was reinforced when it subsequently emerged that CSJ was taking glucose while he was on hunger strike. CSJ never disputed the fact that he took glucose. Instead he made things worse by explaining this away by saying that as a Christian he cannot commit suicide. If that is the case then why the heck in the first place go on what was supposedly a hunger strike?

It is good that there will be a multi-corner fight in Punggol East.

Technically you are also correct. But I would like to see you actually writing your own version and try putting it on wikipedia as proof. On?

Sorry what are we talking about here? That CSJ is a Christian?

Totally agree. My White Scum supporter friends said exactly the same thing, that MCF is good for the White Scums.

hahaha..... if sdp tried to expel cst but failed based on procedural grounds, wouldn't it be a matter of time that they get the procedural grounds correct and expel cst????
even the most kuku pple can see the writings on the wall..
so cst has no choice but to leave before he is expelled....so why no good reason???

The smearing of SDP has begun.

I think the ouster of JBJ by LTK in 2001 is more recent and more interesting. My 6th sense is the media will talk more about it in the coming months.

In 1993, when Chiam set some tough conditions for his return to SDP, he demanded the sacking of Wong Hong Toy, the turncoat from WP, not Chee. That says a lot.

Chiam and Chee shook hands at Face to Face event.

Chee offered Chiam to return to SDP with a high position. Who knows, it may happen one day.

Chee gave up Bishan-TP to SPP out of respect for Chiam. Even Alex Tan "squealed" that SDP was nice about it without any wayang.

Chiam turned up at SDP Futsal Soccer. Tanwahp (Melvin) made a rude remark that Chiam can't even play soccer.

On the other hand, JBJ died a bitter man. No condolences. JBJ never shook hands with LTK. He was not invited to WP's 50th Anniversary dinner.

You only talk about the expulsion. What then was the reason for it?

Com'on dun shy. There is nothing to hide in this age and time. Share with us what you know.

hahaha.....u said that cst left sdp for no good reason..
i pointed out the fact that sdp tried to expel cst (but failed) was a good enough reason for cst to make plan to leave sdp.
don't mix-up issue...

Oh really? Well the smearing of WP has never stops.

And you are doing exactly that in your next lines.

Elaborate "ouster". Did WP try to expel JBJ like SDP to CST?

WP/Ah Low were just trying to distance themselves from the method JBJ used. Either that or WP ceased to exist because it would surely run out of cash to pay off the damages/bankruptcy. Period.

The simple fact is, JBJ directly/indirectly forced WP's hand.

You fake 40% never fail to bring this up again and again, even though anyone with half a brain could work out the logic and sequence of event behind that.

Unless you are CST. Your guess is meaningless.

Shook hands? Attended Futsal session? And you assume CST and CSJ have kissed and made up?

Arafat and Perez also shook hands. So?

Naive. Again.

Even if SDP/CSJ really withdrew from contesting in BTP GRC, it was more likely due to his concern of getting a thrashing in a 3CF.

Next maybe you will say Rabid GohMS also withdrew from MK GRC out of respect for WP.

Ah ok my fault.

Indeed you'd replied about CST's reason to resign on his own.

So will you also comment about the reason why SDP/CSJ wanted to expel CST in the first place?

hahaha.....u have already posted the reason(s).
of course as party member you have to abide by the party rules; if u broke them, you have to face the music....
notwithstanding the facts that cst would have been a very bitter man and felt betrayed at that point in time

So you are saying SDP/CSJ could punish CST for the same offense twice? Geez..... and I thought only the White Scums come with their own Kangaroo Court. Looks like SDP CEC will give the White Scums a run for their $$.

hahaha...this will be my last reply to u on this matter....
first u should know that i am no fan of csj but that is besides the matter we are discussing.
your question/request: So will you also comment about the reason why SDP/CSJ wanted to expel CST in the first place?
my answer: he broke party rules by critisizing sdp CEC
Next quetion/comment: So you are saying SDP/CSJ could punish CST for the same offense twice???
catch no ball at first....but being kuku, i think u were referring to my post that it is a matter of time before he will be expelled....
no one say it will be for the same offence, but any sensible person will understand that cst will not be able to keep his mouth shut if he stays on in sdp.....
it is a matter of time he let goes his frustrations again.
of course u can disagree on this assumption.

Looks like it is really, really my fault then. I think all along you were referring to my "no good reason" while I misread and misinterpreted you were talking about the expulsion itself.

One thing I'd like to speculate is there must already be bad blood between CST and SDP/CSJ for CST to publicly point fingers in the first place. It must be so bad that SDP/CSJ wanted to expel CST and for CST to resign from the party that he had created/built. So whoever says both shook hands, kiss-kiss-hug-hug is obviously more stupid and more naive than me.

Whose fault was it is not important because nobody wins at the end --- SDP lost some credibility/all seats. CST needed to rebuild/start from scratch even though he kept his MPship for the next many GEs.
