S'pore one of the least corrupt countries, says CPIB

i beg to differ. speak to more locals first before making sweeping statements about them.

it is in the philippines that corruption is widely embraced as part and parcel of life.

I spent a year working in Bandung. All the locals were proud of the corrupt system. They showed me how it worked in all aspects of their lives. The shipping supervisor even gave me the names to call if there were any problems when it came to expediting the exports.

The ISO9002 coordinator helped the company achieve certification in record time. He was proud of the fact that he knew the right assessor.

who coined the word : "Collectorship" ; wahahahahaha !!!

while pleasants are proud to raise a family of 4 to 5 pax on $800 to $1,500

per mths ; others are enjoying multi collectorships of

up to a few dozens companies pte and public .

So what? How does this benefit the SG peasant majority? More COE and HDB price increase, higher salary for the ministars and establishments, higher CPF withdrawal age? All these I call legitimate corruption or some call it LEEgalised corruption.

the locals i speak with give me the impression corruption is something they "put up with" - that they are proud of it is questionable. perhaps in bandung and other outlying areas, but not so much in the big cities

"I tell you again, There is almost NO corruption in PAPLand, please don't ask me stupid questions again"

it's not corruption. it's called goodwill and entertainment expenses. allowed in the books one. :)

In Indonesia, nobody complains about corruption. It's part and parcel of life.

I am sure their DPR (Parliament) can sit and pass laws giving themselves huge salaries.

But what happens next on the ground, no one knows.

So due to thbis maybe, the Indonesian politicians from the Government, Provinces, Regencies, Mayorships and other areas still prefer the common "olek-olek".

Some openly ask for "uang-rokok"

Things go on and the Nation is moving up rapidly.

hi there

1. sammy, bingo!
2. in indon, everyone is bang and adek, all in one family mah.

Oh no, everyone is a Bapak. From Pa Presiden downwards.

All customers to government buildings are greeted as Bapaks.

Show me a father that alleges corruption when his kids ask him for money. NONE.......

On the contrary, Fathers are honured to give their children instead.

In Indonesia life goes on. Official letters are sent to your house or office by a low-level civil servant in uniform.

Even he is offered "uang-rokok"

Indonesians are so polite by nature and seldom wants to hurt anyone.

Terima Kasih Pa. Jumpa lagi ya......

Besides the Teh Cheang Wan's Episode, what other renowned cases have CPIB investigated, concluded and sent to the Courts?

This latest Brompton Bicycle issue is a good example of how corruption seeps into the system.

A good example is the announced renovation of Changi Airport.

It is a multi-million dollar project.

Who invites the tenders and approves it?

How to ensure that those tendering are not "getting special favours".

There is no way corruption can be eradicated or controlled.

Just name me how many lamp-posts are there in the whole of tiny Singapore?

How many times have these bulbs been changed and replaced.?

Did anyone check the used bulbs before they were sold to the "high-class karang-gunis" or scrap dealers?

CPIB should encourage whistle-blowing and set up a system to ensure that such a thing works???

These will bring fear to Ministers and those at the top.

They will want to protect their atrociously high salaries.

BTW, within 60 years, how many graft-busters were themselves busted for graft?. Will CPIB reply please?
