it is so darn easy to setup a forum these days. most of the webhosts have wizards that will guide you to configure your forum.. piece of cake!

There is more spam, more graffiti and more vandalism than ever before. I can't handle it on my own. When help was volunteered, I grabbed the opportunity.
The opposition to the content of this forum has grown to the point where the enemy launched a series of DDoS attacks late last week in an attempt to cripple the site.
Luckily, I had already prepared for such an event and activated my anti DDoS account to filter the dirty traffic.
The forum would close if I did nothing to defend it from those who don't want to see it around for much longer. However, with the measures I've taken, I'm 100% sure it will be around as long as I'm still alive and lucid. At one point, it crashed for days and lost almost 2 weeks worth of data but it still came back stronger than ever.
The moderated section was an experiment that I knew would fail. However, it has evolved into a safe haven for posting articles about photography and other hobbies so I intend to keep it but re-title it to something more appropriate.
It can be done in 15 minutes. Cpanel/fantastico can create a phpbb or smf forum with the click of a button.
If anyone wants to set up a similar forum, I'll gladly assist.
Fair enough. If you are going to turn the Moderated forum into something more subject-specific, then it makes sense to have a level of moderation here.
I know about the spam, graffiti, vandalism etc. It's not easy work I know. My point was why have a Moderated and Original when the Original is more moderated than the Moderated.

If you have allowed the gory pictures and spam to stay in the Original, I assure that the traffic for Mod and Ori will be more balanced.
I thought this was a no brainer. Folders should be named after their purpose. For example the Politics Section is about politics - would you name it Politics if it was about favourite pubs? The Mod section should be a place without cyberbullying and for example even if the Great Goh who is a magnet for shit even if he deserves it, should be allowed to post with nothing on his head. Neither can he pyro anyone there whom he hallucinates to be from WP. Original should be anything goes.

just scout the internet for webhosts. www.godaddy.com, www.justhost.com are two webhosts among the thousands and you get a bloody good price with great features. their setup wizards will guide and help you to setup almost any open source softwares you want; from phpforum, oscommerce, wordpress, jumla, etc... they even have a website design wizard to let you setup your website in minutes!
just take out an ad for poly students that are doing IT or website design to help you out.. kopi money of $200+ will suffice.
