he used to own properties in dunearn road, little india, havelock and tanjong rhu. but all gone! if you see the condo infront of zouk, that used to be my father's office and factory. then URA came in say want to claim back for building HDB and turn out to be a private condominium. knnbccb fuck those mother fuckers!:oIo:

I miss the good old days when I was a kid and I love this festival. Only during this festival will our extended family charter a bus and go to Lim Chu Kang to sweep tomb for our ancestors. I love to visit the cemetry as there seem to be so much activities there. Its nice to walk past every tomb and look at the picture of each of them. Then there is the usual plucking of grass, burning of papers.

Now, the graves are exhumed and the remaining placed in a columbarium under our ancestery surname. Each year, I will go there and wonder how come all the women bearing the same surname as me looks so ugly :D

For me, I take a different view on this.

All the burnings and incense are making the air bad.

This is a very Chinese way of respecting the dead and i actually disagree with it.

The better way of honouring your dead ancestor is to be of a good character and do work that benefit the society.

The merit of such good works will pass to them and they may gain the merit to enjoy heavenly bliss.

It is a little of the Buddhist concept but i only use some concept which i think it makes sense to me.

By polluting the environment, it isn't benefit to the environment and society at all, how is the dead going to be honoured by heavens and hell.

They might even be condemn more due to their children polluting the environment on their behalf.

no such things good works will bring you salvation.

proof good guys die early and dictators lived to ripe old age.

Anybody need a good "Crying & Tomb Sweeping" Service??

Today is the ACTUAL Day. But the entire month since 2 weeks ago people had been visiting graves and the columbariums. Will be until through next 2 weeks.

If SG population level reduced back to 1 million or lesser then plenty land for cemetery again. ;)

If FT kept pouring in, I think they will evict even elderly homes to JB Batam and let us die there as Cow planned.:oIo:

I used to live in a high floor block from which I could directly see the Bright Hill and during Cheng Meng the column of smoke rise from there unmistakeably.
