Not really, the JCube ice skating rink is always fairly crowded when I visited it.

'No market for this'... keep thinking along this line, no wonder the PAP technocrats love to screw you.
I haven't been to ecp for a long time.
Are those inline skating training ground still there ?

JCube was a shopping centre located in Jurong East, Singapore that operated from 2 April 2012 to 6 August 2023. It used to house an Olympic-size ice rink and Singapore's first IMAX theatre in the suburbs. It was built on the former site of the Jurong Entertainment Centre

Trying to recall what it was like before jcube.
Realised just a change in the shape of the building.

This was the ice skating rink at JEC back in the day.

Now Jurong has no more ice skating rink. Need to go down to Kallang?

Sony's office moved to Big Box
Went over last week.

Sony just moved in a year, invested a lot for renovation and latest IT system but they announce the retrenchment of the whole IT team in Singapore, from lowest ranked to highest. Unlike Lazada, they offered very good severance package but everyone must go.

Two reasons:
- Main IT team in Japan, Singapore, Europe and US.
Japan and Singapore in same timezone, SGD up 40% since COVID, they will strengthen Japan's team.

- They will also shift the jobs to India

Similar timing as Google APAC in Singapore. However Google is downsizing the foreigners working in Singapore or posting them back to motherland.

Google will still operate in Singapore and most locals not touched, unless it is a prelude to a larger scale retrenchment.

Update on Jurong East: a towering (skeletal) structure now stands on what used to be an open field for the pasar malam next to the sheltered walkway leading to the MRT station. You will see it when you cross the road from the JCube side.

The new bus interchange (near Vision Exchange building) seems to be all but ready. I saw some people walking around inside, they were contractors or supervisors, not Bangla workers.

I still see many people coming from the direction of big box whenever I'm at the Don Don donki area. Not sure why many people still go there.
