that's why i still on 3.something-something.........................don't dare to upgrade...............

You can test. For me to test is something very convenient. I can use virtual machines to test any wild software at the cost of essentially just time. Snapshot will save me from any damages. I can always reverse back to a known good state of virtual machines.

Virtual Machine like vmware player is now FOC, you only basically need more RAM to cater for virtual machines (VMs)

http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0

Can create and run your own VM FOC, to play snapshot etc needs licensed workstaion. (FOC eval for 30 days)

No need to install these.

Goto website do it online

http://www.youtube2mp3.net/

If you use Linux then FFMPEG can convert anything to anything quite universally. Just use any method to grab the flash file from youtube, can convert to MP3 using FFMPEG. I have a virtual machine with a flashgot plug in that would grab youtube into flash .flv file in firefox.

Actually Linux can use a combination of command in a single line to grab youtube directly into .flv or .mp3 this command used to work but since then youtube changed their design, so you need to update it.

http://arun.wordpress.com/2007/01/29/download-youtube-videos-the-linux-way/

http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/dohtt...h-youtube-videos-from-linux-shell-prompt.html

http://www.pantz.org/software/shell/youtube_video_download_oneliner.html

Those who learn linux correctly, will not need to depend much on plug-ins, basically a correct combination of classic linux commands arranged in a pipe form can do such a thing swiftly.

This is exactly how these guys setup a website like http://www.youtube2mp3.net/ behind the Apache web server it is a scripthost using either perl or bash to do exactly what I said and then let you download it.

Correct! I also received it in my other (older) machine, FF v 3.6.22 came last night or night before.

FF pushed lots of publicity and received rapid upgrades by users during FF4 launching. Some 22 millions within 24hrs something like that, then FF5 & FF6 comparatively low-key launching.

The fact in browser scene is everyone is awaiting the big crunch of HTML 5.0, currently we are using HTML4. HTML5 will come and butt kick everyone hard, Adobe flash may be gone, because HTML5 means multimedia directly in HTML, not a proprietary plugin can monopolize. All become open scripts / codes. Browsers can decide for themselves how to deal with the multimedia, the can give plugins the finger.

Uncleyap and anyone,

I'm still using FF3.6.22, it keep telling me to go for FF5 but at the same time it tells me that the DivX plus web player plugin will not work. I need that plugin to view videos from certain websites so I did not upgrade. I've downloaded the latest version just in case but it's not FF5, it's FF6.0.2. If for whatever reason given no choice I've to upgrade do I have to uninstall older version before proceeding or just install over it??

I also have this problem initially. What I did was to uninstall the program but leave the data intact and download to reinstall the latest version of 6.0.2 now running perfectly.

The plugin does not work on any versions after FF3.6x. There is no solution to it if you decide to upgrade to FF5.0 simply because it is a plugin by DivX. (before some moron happily shift blame onto Mozilla again ). For older versions of FF, you can downgrade the divx webplayer (see below) and cancel the upgrade when it prompts you to, to prevent it from crashing.

Yo youtalkcock,

Thank you, that's very unfortunate. Guess I'll just have to stay with FF3.6 then, I use that plugin to view videos alot. By the way, I'm wondering is there a way or rather is it possible to have two versions of the FF browser on a single platform, I do not have much knowledge on all this, sorry about that.

Hehe no but can install different multiple browsers. Don't rely too much on browser plugins.

DIVX has their codec + player software bundle for installation.

http://www.divx.com/en/software

You can use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. Can play rm, rmvb, mov movies instead of having to install Quicktime, Real Player, other standalone players and codecs.

Oops! too bad. I already had two IE8 browsers 32bits and 64bits(DivX, even Flash doesnt work) but not using since switching to FF. Unless I do downloading, I watch videos on the web, without the plugin web player wont work. Any idea does Chrome has such problem, what are the chances of possible software conflict if having multiple (too many) browsers.

Yupz...had reservations when I read mostly negatives about FF4 in other places and now FF5, FF6 add-ons compatibility issues. Mozilla is moving too fast for others to catch up.

Even with 4 different browsers with IE being the default if you are using windoze, Chrome, FF, Safari, it is okay, no conflict. With Chrome you are going to complain as some plugins are incompatible, and addons not available.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore?hl=en-US

There is thread below to make all addons compatible with FF5 but i don't think it will work on plugins.
