This young punkle is very stupid. Either you do it all the way or you don't. If want to do it, arrest the reporter for something like obstruction of duty. Handcuffed and then released, that's something the Police Academy would never teach. Now, his future depends on how his CO negotiates with the SPH chief. If his CO doesn't like him, he's a goner. If SPH press for false arrest, not only can he get permanent unpaid leave, but also can get free vacation at Changi integrated resort.

As an ex-Poodle, what are the possible ways the young poodle will get screwed by the higher ups for this cock up?

Extreme of the POA is at work lol. Unfortunately it was used on a newpaper photographer, so big news. The police also can use POA to disperse the crowds at opposition election rally if they think that its to intimidating a crowd. No need to use ISD but NEA and POA to disrupt opposition efforts.

It is totally justified to handcuff the reporter, what if, in his zeal to get more exclusive pics, that he does not see where he's going?
He might have lost his footing and swept away by onrushing water. Or he cannot see any manhole and dropped into one.
Police rightly handcuffed him for his own safety. instead of complaining, he should be thankful to the cop

put that on the next brochure of sg tourist promotion. warn all tourists that carrying and using a camera in a flood is a safety hazard. why not just tell them that visiting sg is a safety hazard too? moron.

Singapore has became Myanmar, this episode speaks volume of the fact. We need to fight back before situation became irreparable and aggravated further by PAP.

After this news make head line the Singapore freedom press will drop below 160th par with N.Korea.
Why do police want to stop press from taking photo. Unless someone order him to do that.
Many more photo/video are on internet and are more serious. How can PAP stop it?
PAP always self how good Singapore. Now flooding every week some where in the Islands. Even KL/JJB have been doing great job on flood prevention.
Singapore is an Islands so flood should not have occur and all area are higher than sea level. Because any lokang/canal are very near to the sea how could this happen?
I suspect is the barrage and blocking all canal to sea to save water. That slow down the flow rate water to the sea.

His superiors are most likely more busy trying to figure out how to cover their own backsides now.

His superiors are most likely more busy trying to figure out how to cover their own backsides now.
The police officer took the "better safe than sorry" approach, which was to prevent the photos being taken until told it's ok, as opposed to allowing it until told it's not ok.
It's a really sad day when even a low level police officer takes it as second nature that such an event cannot be photographed, as if high grade defense weapons were being swept away with the flood waters.
There will be nothing for his superiors to cover. Their superiors (and we know who these are) will probably tell them: Good. If you are unsure, just stop the people first.
This really shows how arrogant, complacent and condescending they have become towards the Singaporean people.

Re: Flood Is Top Secret : No Photography Allowed

I watched the Presstapo TV's (CNA) coverage of the flood and noticed something interesting. The introduction and conclusion to the coverage were totally out of sync with what was reported.

First, the item was introduced it projected the impression that it was a minor event.

Then when they go on to the substance, it became very clear that today's flood was at least as bad as the ones on 16 and 25 June. They showed the now all too familiar scenes of waist high flood waters and stalled vehicles. There was even a reporter who reported with water up to her waist.

But in conclusion, the newsreader would blabber off some stats from PUB.

It came across as if the start and the end were scripted for them by PAPzi Commissars but the substance they couldn't control.
