Without a question, their hegemony is seen in building up their wield of influence in South East Asian countries like Malaysia and Phillipines. Singapore has chosen to stay neutral in the balance of powers although she is seen more in her support to USA given the defence agreement to extend her port and base to US military uses. Coupled the fact that we buy most of our armaments and fighter jets from USA.
Naturally, China is more skeptical with Singapore when it comes to asserting her influence in Asia. But we have also a lot of economic and business dealings with China. We have contributed significant investments in China in manufacturing, infrastructure, industrial and commercial developments. That is something China must not ignore.
