Reason Why Singaporeans are Angry

PAP is doing a good job like Sam said. There are a lot of people out there that thinks that way, in spite of all the facts that you have listed. Singaporeans are not dumb, they have chosen a government that they deserve and believe in. It is how democracy works. Unless you can make the argument that Singapore is not a democracy and is more like North Korea then I don't see your point of PAP slow demise. The majority still has its says.

in post 275, u said Singaporeans are dumb.

in post 279, you said Singaporeans are not dumb.

i think you are confused

Shows that being an FT has more value then being a Singaporean. Now why would anyone want to be a sinkie then?

The Registers of Elections are to be revised by Mar 2014. Does it mean that GE is imminent or is this just a regular revision.

Alternative Parties have to remain alert shd a snap GE is called soon

I think they are in trouble because of:

1. anger against pap continues unabated.
2. many things are falling apart and will get worse eg MRT breakdowns, shortage of beds, telco problems, etc
3. will world economy get worse
4. will SG plunge into recession in 2015
5. if LKY passes away, will there be a PAP split
6. is it better to have GE in 2014 and lose some GRCs, extend their rule until 2019 or risk being kicked out in 2016.
7. there are some lame ducks in the cabinet and amongst the MPs. It is time to kick out some liabilities

but yet again, the Registers revision could just be a routine revision.

whatever it is, the APs have to ram up its presence and influence

It is just a regular revision. I think they need to do it every 3 years.

I'm not the only one, today, many Singaporeans are much travelled. I was then a student on a learning journey, I enjoyed the US very much, even though I was on a tight budget. I found Yankees to be friendly, welcoming, a great sense of humour, and a love of life. Some things bad, some things good, overall, it's a great country. My experience there was very positive.

Cheers!

wow.you are experienced and well travelled. which part of usa did you study at? did you like usa?

I'm sure many people would want to be in a position like mine, but I do not feel any superior or advantaged. Just a working class bloke with family to feed, bills to pay. However, I try to see the lighter and brighter side of things. Singapore may not be the ideal place to live in, but it is still home to many, and it is relatively safe, stable, with fair amount of opportunities. The law works, civil and municipal services function. Many peoples elsewhere in the world hope their own country could be like Singapore. My only complaint about Singapore is the small land space and it crowdedness. Apart from these two points, it is livable.

Cheers!

You are a privileged guy. Have you seen how many average Singaporeans struggling? Can you see how the future holds for average Singaporeans.

Privileged guys can close an eye and not be affected by the poverty and sufferings around them. It's their privileged choice and is not wrong.

But will some stand up for the suffering Singaporeans?

The grass is always greener on the other side.

For most 1st world residents of developed countries, the best place to live is the country they grew up in, where their friends and family are, where they are familiar with things. Recreating a social network from scratch is an arduous task, and even if you do it well, it's not as good as putting in the same work to improve things in a place where you already have a network. You know the system, the language, the culture, and the places in your home country, all that knowledge disappears when you go abroad. If you are a native, even moving from USA to Canada, or UK to Ireland, or Australia to New Zealand, is quite a big change and significantly disadvantages you in many ways.

Just look at this forum, tons of Ex-Sinkies who have migrated abroad, crowing about their fantastic life but still want to come here and "talk cock" with other fellow sinkies.....Once a Sinkie, Always a Sinkie.

Few places are better off, and those that are, you'll be disadvantaged by not knowing the language/culture in many of them, and having no social or business network, not knowing the system, being away from friends and family etc.

Better to forget grass is greener syndrome, and work on improving your output, skills, networking, and career opportunities at home, whilst living a full life in the vicinity of the people, places, and other things you know.

You have a point there. But let not forget that people who choose to migrate may be joining their extended families by blood or marriages, or even see it as a way out to start afresh.

A lot of Chinese Singaporeans of my generation are still visiting China even through they are borned in Singapore.

This forum is just one of those websites for those who left but still remember their childhood playing in the kampong, festivals are especially fun in kampongs, then there are the NS days. And we are also on the look out for our kids eg NS problem.
It will be nice to see changes in government policies - esp dual citizenships, etc

There are also some of us who wants to take advantage of the business opportunities in Singapore without having to live there. It is actually the best of both worlds.

Otherwise, people need to re-examine why they choose to migrate.

ALSO, the grass is greener overseas at different stage of your life.

Example: It would be nice to work in US when I am young and need VC, and then find a wife from Japan (well trained in home economics), work in Australia because of good family friendly lifestyle and retire in Malaysia where cost of living is low, while my income is in USD.

a SG friend recommended Karri Valley to me when I was driving to Albany from Perth. Nice, cosy resort

It will be hard to miss Karri Valley if you drive from the Great Southern.
I esp enjoy the Pemberton region during the cooler months and flowering seasons.

I thought that you would like the drive more, with tall trees on both sides of the road.

yes, different people choose to stay or migrate for different reasons.

But as Singaporeans, we must make sure, to the best of our ability, that the pap does not mismanage SG for its own selfish gain

I myself am at a loss as to why there is so much resentment, some of which I do understand and some I don't. Singapore in the past runs like clockwork, everything was a breeze. You want a HDB flat, you got it, a car, no sweat, good education, sure thing, jobs were aplenty.

LHL has delineated Singaporeans from the pap

LHL has antagonised China, USA, Indonesia, etc.

LHL is a poor leader. Susilo has stopped exporting granites to SG. Susilo shows LHL who is boss by insisting on naming its Navy ship to honour two Indonesian marines killed by SG.

All these show how bad a PM LHL is and how bad he fares on the international scene.

LHL causes trouble at home. LHL causes trouble for SG with foreign powers.

Isnt it time for LHL to go?

1. LTY is dismayed that MRTs and buses are not reliable and constantly breakdown
2. YI is dismayed that M1 and Singtel are not perform their duties
3. TCH is dismayed that civil servants are increasingly corrupt
4. GKY is dismayed that the hospitals are short of beds
5. TCJ is dismayed that employers prefer to employ foreigners
6. KBW is dismayed that housing prices are too high
7. NEH is dismayed that Singaporeans are not treating others as they would like to be treated
8. LHK is dismayed that SG's FTAs are not working well
9. VB is dismayed that NEA cant nail WP
10. HSK is dismayed that the education system is not producing employable citizens
11. CCS is dismayed that there are so many poor citizens in SG
12. The mother of all dismays is from LHL who feels that singaporeans are like a pack of hounds going after him .

But have the pap ministers realised that these are all within their purviews and the dismays show their poor performance.

Singaporeans rightly should be angry that the pap can only express dismays and try to blame others for their non performance. It's time they get off their butts and start running their ministries and serve Singapore

All the Dismay equals to Clueless ministers!! I am dismay too!

Just b'cos One mad lady drove ICA now Sinkieporean pays the price!@
why cant ICA wake up and do a proper job like our counter JB
ICA, I am dismay when I pass thru JB ICA with a breeze!! however
when reaching Sinkiepore I am dismay at the JAM, its the same amount of traffic
yet JB NO JAM!! But Sinkiepore BIG JAM! Why???

Wonder why Porntip aka porn twit ran away to NZ///////

But I didn't run away. I moved here because I enjoy my trout fishing and my mountain bike trails. If I could enjoy these pursuits in Singapore, I'd still be there.
