they're just doing their jobs to prevent another umbrella situation from occurring. not that its even likely here.

but given how serendipitous things may be, they may screw it up through incompetence and ignite the movement instead. :p

POLICE VISIT PROTEST ORGANISERS’ HOMES AT MIDNIGHT TO DEMAND THEY COME IN FOR QUESTIONING

Post date: 10 Oct 2014 - 11:28am

The #ReturnOurCPF protest on Saturday 27th September at Hong Lim Park made news as the event clashed with another YMCA event.

Some of the participants are now being investigated for “unlawful assembly” with the police having gone to their homes at midnight to serve them letters demanding that they go in for questioning.

The protest was organized by Ms Han Hui Hui and there was some conflict as another event featuring PAP Minister Teo Ser Luck was held at the same time and place resulting in some tension.

The Police told organizers and some participants that they are required to come down to the Police Cantonment Complex to assist them with investigations into an offence of unlawful assembly.

TRS was alerted by Ms Han Hui Hui to the serving of the notice. She explained that plain clothes officers came to her home at about midnight on Thursday asking that she go down to the Police Cantonment Complex on Friday for questioning.

Apparently, the permit which Ms Hui had received to hold a protest and march around Hong Lim Park was revoked and so there had been an unlawful assembly. There were also some doubts as to whether the protesters had abided by the original permit terms as they had allegedly encroached onto YMCA’s designated space at the park.

Unlawful assembly is an offence under the Penal Code section 142 and it carries a maximum sentence of 2 years in jail and a fine or both.

It is understood that at least 5 participants at the protest were served notices and questioned by police. For some, they were asked to come in for questioning as early as 11am the next morning, giving them little time to alert their employers of their need to take leave.

The officers came in groups, without any notice, to participants' homes scaring their families and neighbours. The whole operation was rather like the early morning raids conducted during operation coldstore.

Ms Han has also been asked to go in for questioning this evening and TRS will keep readers updated with more details when they are available. Since the serving of the notice yesterday night, Ms Han has not made any updates on social media about the situation.

It is not immediately clear when exactly Ms Han's permit to protest was revoked. Prior to the event, there was a heated exchange between NParks officers and Ms Han Hui Hui but it is unclear from this exchange if the officers had at that time revoked Ms Han’s permit.

See the video of the exchange here:

Will police dare to go to the minister's home at midnight and serve him letter for questioning since he was also involved in the incident at HLP protest on 27/09/2014?

This will teach new citizens like HHH to show more respect for authority.

Singapore is a unique country where law and order is paramount. We cannot tolerate acts of defiance. It will tear society apart and lead to riots and a breakdown of the social cohesion that our beloved founding father worked so hard to nurture.

How long can the PAP keep the lid? The pressure will blow things up and social unrest will sweep through the red dot.

Are you going to come back and be the tank commander that will run the tank over the protesters?

I doubt such tactics will work because who doesn't wants their CPF back at 55 . Even the 60% who support the PAP want their CPF.

If the PAP forces people to make a choice in the next GE. They are asking the people to vote them out:biggrin:

Why they don't organize a protest outside LKY home at 4am to give him a morning call? He doesn't sleep much at his age. That will show Ah Loong not to mess with HHH!!!

JUST IN:

Han Hui Hui is out! She's in good spirits. Her laptop is being confiscated for 'investigations'. It is unsure if the Singapore Police is violating any laws by doing that.

She is now waiting for her lawyer M.Ravi

Stay tuned for more updates!
