That is a politically wrong comment by LKY. He may be right to a certain extent but such insensitive remarks shld be made behind closed doors.

Heavy rain during low tide is an act of god to prove that it is man's folly behind the floods.

Come on! It is potable water we are after, not flood alleviation.

I wonder if some insurers are refusing to pay.

He said the current team of ministers are the besterest of the best and therefore must be paid the world's highest salary by a far margin. In fact, 30 of his besterests are top 30 highest paid in the entire world !

And they blame it on God for the problems that some 3rd world country can solve easily ?

If the Indian Chief endorses his troops even if major boo-boos happen, what can we expect from all the little indians ?

The more they tried to justify their own collective incompetencies, the more it angered the voters.

PAP is getting very out of touch with the ground and were proven incompetent in almost (I am giving some slack to them already) all of the issues affecting the citizens.

I don't think he beleieved in God, but somehow, God is his whipping boy for anything that he is too embarrass to admit as his mistake.

Wait till he meets God in person to exprain why he pushed all the blames, which is his responsibility and screwups, to HIM.

right vs. popular.

he choosed right. (provided he gets the number correct. ie: record rainfall per hour vs. the current cap of the drainage system.)

When PAP lost billions in overseas investments, their excuse was in investments, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. So it's not PAP's fault.

When SG is flooded and when trees topple over, the PAP's excuse is it's an act of God and no one can do anything about it. So it's not PAP's fault as well.

When the economy is doing badly, it's the global economy and there is nothing the PAP can do. No, not the PAP's fault.

When SG economy grows, the PAP said they will import 100,000 foreign trash or else, as the Shit Times reported, nasi lemak will cost $10 a plate. Sinkees will just have to swallow it because there is nothing else the PAP can do. Again it is not the PAP's fault as well.

When Mas Selamat escaped, it's the underlings that screwed up. So the PAP is blameless again.

Since nothing can ever be done, why pay millions to the PAP?

But he added that there are some things which are beyond human control as they are acts of God - unless Singaporeans want to have half the country developed with roads, and the rest with canals.

For someone who claimed 'he'd rise from the grave should he find that something is not right about Singapore', I reckon the least he could do is send someone from the ISD to knock on His door in the middle of the night to, errrr.., put the fear of God in him.

If that don't do the trick, maybe 20 or so years as a permanent resident on Sentosa will.

LOL!!! Hahaha!!!

When things go wrong, LKY conveniently blames it on God, regardless of whether he believes there is God or not.

When things are smooth, the PAP claims credit for them.

This old man talks to much and is becoming a liability to Singapore.
list of his recent comments include his anti malaysian rants, Saying that MBS can only take off after 7 years (what would MBS bankers/investors/financers think)
And now he come out to defend his kar kia that nothing can be done about the floods (what would potential investors to singapore think)

Kuan Yew has spoken, let us all blame God!

Morning has broken, like the first morning, old man has spoken, like the first bird,Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the word

You can see Abang is smiling from ear to ear, like a Chesire Cat.....you blame this god & other act of gods!! ( which one, your choice)

So if Singapore has extraordinary rainfall, the country has to prepare for it.

3 hours of heavy rain = extraordinary rainfall?

Mr Lee noted that Singapore and Singaporeans expect everything to be perfect, which he said the nation's leaders try to do.

If it were 3 days of continuous heavy raining, I think Singaporeans would be sensible enough to accept the situation. But 3 hours?

No Mr Lee, Singaporeans do not expect everything to be perfect. We only want value for money, and we feel it is reasonable to have very high expectation from your world highest paid ministers and civil servants for their million dollar salaries.
