Looking at the portions and the price,,there is totally no value at all. Its basically a bloody rip off
chicken wings were deep fried with diced spring onions, garlic, and chopped red peppers. wings are sold separately or can be part of the nasty lemak meal.
the eatery is not for value meals. it’s for the atas to meet up for breakfast or lunch, flaunt their wealth, and enjoy some (strange) sinkie fare. otherwise, palo alto has too much fusion, pizza, burmese, sushi, italian, greek, bakeries, but no exotic erotic sinkie coolie food. a tiny cup of coffee at nearby blue bottle is already $6.9. moreover, owner is sinkie woman who married billionaire amdk, and they have a home in palo alto, besides multiple properties in sg. she cooks well, anything from popiah to beef rendang to nonya kueh. cooking is her passion. this cafe is just a hobby, and it’s a drop in their hobby bucket.
The Chinese restaurant next door used to be the Palo Alto branch of Hong Kong Flower Lounge. Fantastic dim sum.
it’s now taipan. very classy dim sum place. to survive in palo alto all these years one has to be super wealthy, as it’s common to bump into billionaires who dress down like bums.

wealthier than beverley hills but not as vain and full of drama. big mansions with 2-acre lots are nearby in atherton, woodside and hillsborough. in palo alto, homes are smaller with 6.9k sqf lots. but tech billionaires like to congregate here as it’s family-friendly, unassuming, unpretentious, walkable, dog-friendly, civil, polite, and has a small town feel. collectively, palo alto has way higher iq’s and deeper stock and shareholdings than all of socal combined, including beverley hills. while an a-list actor may make $69m a year, a typical tech billionaire earns $696m a year from interest earnings alone and easily spends $69m a year.
consider yourself lucky you can enjoy $1.69 kopi, kaya toast and two eggs every morning. all thanks to pap.
