The mata mata nowadays are usually lazy; they cruise around in their patrol cars. Take a look at them going around in Geylang eating wind in their cruisers and they seem blind to the tiongs and other foreigners riding their motorised bikes in Geylang like their grandfather's road.

In USA, a broken tail light would prompt the mata mata to stop the motorists but in sinkie land, mata mata are paid to cruise blind.
