Very good observation, thanks.
They try all means to fix oppo.

anyway, it ok. kaki bukit will lump together with east coast / bedok lor. another chance for WP to capture another 3/4 member grc.

that will also mean my place has a chance to escape from papig yolk. confirm big nose teo grc will be chop up, no way flats from buangkok drive down towards hougang ave 8 will remain under pasir ris grc.

papig will also try to increase the number of seats in the House so as to build a bigger buffer to deny opposition from gain 1/3 of the seats.

Max is 5-member GRC, gone are the days with those super-GRC :biggrin::biggrin:

AngMoKio & PasirRis-Punggol GRC affected :p:p:p

LHL standing in an SMC is it? Teehee...

More appropriate question may be to ask who he intends to sacrifice!

I don't understand why Gay Loong and the PAP has to be so secretive. The committee formed 2 months ago and he is only revealing it after questions in Parliament? Seriously? He does know its taxpayer money paying for the committee?

insecure......... want to maximise advantage no matter how small

"To reduce the average size of the GRCs below 5" could mean that there will still be 5 man GRCs, but there will be more 4 man and perhaps even 3 man GRCs, such that the average size is below 5.

He also asked the committee to have smaller GRCs, "so as to reduce the average size of the GRCs below five", and to have at least 12 SMCs.

he's testing our PLSE maths....
reduce ave size of GRC to below 5 = 4, 3, 2... (max 5; wrong)
have at least 12 SMCs = 12, 13, 14, 15.....85 ??

Thank you for pointing out my mistake, so it's like an upheaval altogether!
I like that idea of a GRC of having max 4 members :p:p:p

Incredible that PM kept EBRC appointment a secret

It is shocking that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong chose not to announce the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee when he appointed it two months ago.

He revealed the formation of the EBRC only in Parliament today. Such a non-transparent approach to elections continues to tilt the playing field heavily in the PAP's favour.

Add to this the secretive way the constituencies are formulated and we have the perfect example of an undemocratic ruling party out to ensure victory at all cost and with little regard for the views of the people.

The SDP calls on Mr Lee to ensure that at least two months are given from the time of the announcement of the new boundaries to the dissolution of Parliament.

There should also be ample time of at least three weeks for official campaigning which is in keeping with international democratic norms.

Any less than these time frames will signal that the PAP is unrepentant of its former ways – despite the apologies and tears in the last general elections – and therefore nervous about a fair competition for votes.

The PAP may continue with its tactic of announcing the boundaries at the last possible moment and give the least amount of time for official campaigning.

This will benefit the PAP at the expense of Singaporeans for the results will not be a true reflection of the will of the people. In the long-run, it will be Singapore that suffers.

How does this tilt the playing field heavily in PAP's favour?

Most of the PAP MPs and cadres are equally in the dark about the exact dates and ward boundaries.

But not the clown prince and his aristocrats. They are privvy to the boundaries delineation and this will tilt the playing field heavily in PAP's favour. Obviously you are only a lowly crasslooter whom they won't be bothered to inform.

Clown prince has a head start in drawing up strategy and choosing the candidates in the yet announced seats. This is very unfair to the opposition.

Makes no difference lah.
PAP will sweep the elections with greater margin.

If that is the case, then why be so secretive and manipulate the delineation exercise? Dun you and John Tan know that the clown prince is manipulating behind the scene? He tilting the playing field heavily in PAP's favour.

hello Bro, you expect someone as lowly a crasslooter as John Tan to be told early? He is a nobody. A nobody who can be discarded as soon as he is no longer useful.

To lose a GRC of 5 is much worse than to lose 1 SMC. If they know that certain GRC will be sure gone case if the GRC remains as a group, then they might as well cut out the most opposing constituency in it (if possible minced it up) and save the remaining portion. Maybe those doc inside suggested such medical approach.
