Was told banks are obliged to notify CAD everytime transactions involved 20k and above. Whether CAD actually probes further is dependent on many other factors. CAD is selective. Their Intel Division handles this task. Once suspicious, info forwarded to one of their divisions. I think they are known as Suspicious Transaction something something division. Detection of money laundering is their cardinal objective.

I'm sure there are all kinds of rules in place but whether they are really followed in highly questionable. Do you remember the story about some foreign women who deposited millions yet never kenna investigation? Someone must have either been negligent or more likely turned a blind eye but unfortunately was caught out by some other means.

SG govt is well known around Asia for being desperate to attract foreign monies. They can't afford to make the rules too tight for banks. Only take a few high profile laundering to court now and then to "prove" they are against money laundering.
