Did you know that canola causes problems such as: •Canola depletes vitamin E. • Canola increases the rigidity of membranes, which can trigger degenerative diseases. • Because of canola's high sulfur content, it goes rancid easily, which can exacerbate allergies and compound problems for people with bronchial or asthmatic issues. • Human studies reveal canola causes an increase in lung cancers. • Canola can shorten lifespan of animals and lower platelet count. • Daily canola consumption can raise your triglycerides over 40 percent. • Canola oil molds quickly and also inhibits enzyme function. • It opens the door for free radicals, undermining natural antioxidants, and can be linked to increased incidence of many diseases. • Canola leaves no foul taste when it's spoiled, so it's hard to tell if you're eating rancid erucic acid. Go read about these problems with Canola at http://www.naturalnews.com/043948_canola_oil_hidden_health_dangers_food_bar.html With so many potential problems with canola, there is no way I'm going to use it.
I strongly recommend you to read the following concerning the health benefits of canolo oil carefully:

Lets look at how the PAP is allowing the sale of tainted rice in Spore.
If politics & money can influence the laws & regulation passed by the PAP, isn't it the same with the USA where big business has power & money to influence:confused:

The US has so many health problems which can be traced to their diet & yet it is still perfectly legal for big business to sell all these unhealthy products e.g. trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, food additives,...

If you want to trust the US FDA & American heart association that is your own business, but many people including americans don't. They make the effort to do their homework instead of blindly following the herd.

I see that many forumer are interested in their health.

So let me take this oppurtunity to remind people of the monthly magazine "Life Extension". It is available FREE from here
http://www.lef.org/Magazine

I prefer reading the physical copy that is available at the National Library. However the electronic version is similar to the physical version & free to download.

What made you think that your preferred monthly magazine are NOT sponsored by the very businesses that have the money and power to influence consumers like you to buy your products? Your argument "Lets look at how the PAP is allowing the sale of tainted rice in Spore. If politics & money can influence the laws & regulation passed by the PAP, isn't it the same with the USA where big business has power & money to influence" cuts both ways.

Why would anyone be interested in PAP propaganda:confused:
The PAP has lost my trust. When a gov't allows the sale of tainted Japanese rice one has to question their priorities:confused:
The PAP probably doesn't care because it is good money making oppurtunity for the hospitals

What made you think that your preferred monthly magazine are NOT sponsored by the very businesses that have the money and power to ...

SIMPLE, if you spend some time reading articles on health, you'll have the chance to compare what is written at other sources.

Life Extension does NOT have a patent on the products they sell. They rely on their members & repeat business. I'm not a member but I am taking their products because they are one of the best in the health supplement business.

I recommend reading Life Extension because many of their articles target the very same issues that are affecting Sporeans today. Their articles are I think well written without too much jargon.

The No. 1 axiom in consumer awareness: If you're not paying for it (Life Extension magazine), you've become the PRODUCT.

The staff who put together "Life Extension" magazine do not need to eat, izzit?

Who pay for their rent, salaries, publication costs, delivery costs if not the advertisers and the sponsors?

Why focus only on Sinkies? Are Sinkies' DNA so vastly different from citizens of other countries?

What you should do is to read also REAL scientific studies on health supplements, edible oils, etc..

In addition to advisories put out by US Food & Drug Administration, I also read articles by the American Heart Association, EU commission on food and drug safety and advisories dished out by the various European health organizations.

Nowadays with online translation apps, you don't have to be a fluent speaker of French, German, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian or Swedish to read scientific journals.

I started this thread simply to highlight the fact that there are air fryers that uses stainless steel instead of teflon.
I suggested coconut oil as a healthy option. I did not bring up canola , it was you who brought it up.

I brought up various articles to justify why it is an unhealthy oil. I don't use it & I don't think anyone should be using it. You are the one that highlighted that it has the approval of the US gov't, as well as how it is permitted in Spore blah, blah...

If you had bothered to read any of the Life Extension articles you will notice that at the end of each article they always include the references for the article. You can always go back to the source if you are really interested.

Isn't it the same for the gov't bodies that you provided references for:confused:
Who do you think paid for the research:confused:

Just because they are gov't bodies don't assume that they don't have a hidden agenda.

We all know that the PAP decisions are influenced by how much $$$ they can make at our expense. Isn't that why some PAP MP called Sporeans "lesser mortals" The same goes for the US gov't where there is plenty of lobbying by special interest groups going on behind the scenes.

I buy olive oil.

But i heard that coconut oil is much more better than olive oil.

Virgin Coconut oil is better for cooking. Keep in mind that there are different types of olive oil out there, some types are more suited for cooking. You don't want to cook with virgin olive oil because it damages easily.

I cook some frozen food with no oil so it tastes pretty bland is that what it's supposed to be cooked like?

Really depends on what you are cooking? There are ways you can add taste after something is cooked e.g. drizzle olive oil, spices, add tomatoe sauce, chilli sauce, add a glaze,... With chicken or meats you can marinate it before cooking it.

Initially I thought of making fries from frozen fries available from the supermarket but they all had additives. So I made some from scratch by cutting some potatoes & leaving the skins intact & just baking them. Next time I will cut the potatoes into smaller pieces.

I've also tried baking a scramble egg but I think I it is too dry. I prefer them sunny side up

I'm actually looking for a good air fryer cook book. Anyone have any recommendations:confused:
