SINGAPORE: The former National University of Singapore law professor in a sex-for-grades case has been sentenced to a jail term of five months and ordered to pay a penalty of S$514.80.

The amount includes the balance of a dinner bill and the cost of two tailored shirts.

Tey Tsun Hang, 42, was convicted of corruptly obtaining gifts and sex from former student Darinne Ko.

He was found guilty last Tuesday after a trial that spanned five months.

Tey was convicted of four counts of corruption and could have been jailed up to five years and fined S$100,000 on each charge.

5 months is too short, hope he appeals and the sentence extended.
