Mandarin Gardens Back to Mandarin Gardens

I guess the test will be the next AGM. It will show if the Indians understood why Mandarin Gardens had to be reclaimed by the locals. I would like to see more locals reclaiming this country and the condos are an excellent example of niches that help make up the country.

Pointless having a high grade permanent sec in PMO driving the population and integration agenda if this is symptomatic of what was achieved thus far. Until the cabinet and the PS understand that integration must occur on locals terms and nothing else, what you will have is a disenfranchised local population and this is something that no other country has. Disenfranchised minorities are all too common in the World and we know that it is not right but a disenfranchised local population is quite inconceivable until Singapore's govt showed how to screw up and it did so royally. .

hopefully some of these lawless indians will move to another condo which they have conquered. maybe they want that condo to go 80 % indians. will we see a condo in SG that is majority indians?

Yes, it will be a constant battle. The Singaporean owners want to retain the Singaporean flavour in MG. In fact my Singaporean Indian neighbour just shared with me her experience with an India Indian resident. My neighbour came down from a bus at the bus stop at marine Parade Road. There was an India Indian resident who was waiting at the turnstile. She turned to my neighbour and the following conversation took place:

India Indian : "Tap me in"
My Neighbour: "Where is your resident card?"
India Indian:" I didnt bring"
My neighbour: "If you dont carry your card, you have to enter by the main gate"
India Indian: "Tap me in"
Neighbour: "I dont know you and I dont tap strangers into the condo. I am not gg to tap you in"

they stared at each other and impasse.

Melville Park?

yes...is Melville park too far down the Indian invasion for locals to reclaim it? As Mojito hypothesise, Melville prices shd shoot up because of more indians. My assessment is that prices will go down

like i said u are just pushing the problem away and not doing anything about it,what if the shitskins already controls 40 percent of a condo enclave like tan jong rhu?what if the shitskins control 40 percent of a neighbourhood or a constituency or a part of singapore like marine parade and east coast?are u going to leave the ghetto and go to another part of the country like the americans whenever their city gets overrun by minorities?worse still......43 percent of the people in singapore now are foreign born citizens, foreigners control 43 percent of singapore, where are u going to run to?Singapore is now palestine, first they invade ur country, import millions of their trash, then take over ur lands, soon sinkies will be packed into a tiny strip of land like rats called the gaza strip and bombed everyday with white phosphorous bomb.and nobody will care cause they see sinkies as rats .

Not pushing the problem away. Each of us must do what we can within our circle of influence.

1. My Indian neighbour did what she could when she faced the problem at the busstop
2. MG residents did what we can and we reclaimed MG for Singaporeans.

My neighbour and MG owners cant reclaim Waterside or Singapore for Singaporeans.

Singaporeans will have to reclaim Singapore for Singaporeans and preserve our flavour in SG and not allow SG to turn into a China country or Indian country

If a foreigner wants to stay in a condo and enjoy the facilities, most Singaporeans welcome him. Problem is some foreigners are like what you said...they want to take over the condo and turn it upside down.

if sinkies take our own sweet time and wait and wait we will perish, already how many precious time and g.e.s has been lost?just look at the fate of the palestinians.they no longer own their own country, their culture, history has been destroyed.they are economically starved and living like rats.

foreigners especially shitskins are way more aggresive and cohesive then sinkies.we will lose if we dont act now and act fast.

Turf wars are not going to help win over the foreigners. In fact it will only exacerbate what is already a tense and tenuous relation with the Indians. Rise above criticisms and engage them. Forget the us against them mentality as we all need to learn and adapt in order to coexist. FYI, this is not a uniquely Singaporean issue. Happens in every country that has taken in horde of foreign migrants.

Perhaps you could consider some form of 'limited representation' and over time seek ways to bridge the needs of the two communities. IMHO, it simply makes no sense to isolate them. You certainly have the means and tools via AGMs, EGMs, resolutions, etc to change. The question is whether the residents of Mandarin Garden on both sides of the divide have the will to change the status quo.

Ten days after Singaporeans reclaimed Mandarin Gardens from the Indians, Mandarin Gardens is back to Mandarin Gardens. It is no more Mumbai Gardens.

The ambience is good again. The environment is peacefully. the indian children are no more playing cricket and street scoccer on the manicured gardens.

The elderly and wheelchair bound can relax in the gardens. toddlers can run around in the gardens without fear of getting hit by a cricket ball or soccer ball.

Thank you, Singaporean owners for reclaiming and restoring Mandarin Gardens to what it was before it was invaded by arrogant and lawless foreigners who think they own Mandarin Gardens.

Thanks for raising the incident and the follow up. Glad to know things are back to normal and hopefully you will be able to see at the next AGM whether things will continue to be normal.

This issue is also very close to my heart. Am very saddened that Singapore has become one of those countries on Earth where foreigners can go in and throw their weight around and bring in their antisocial behaviour with impunity.

Singaporeans generally are mindful about each others' spaces and know not to encroach. There is a sense of awareness that others including the elderly share the same public spaces.

When I see Indian nationals come in en masse and bring this kind of behaviour, of china nationals coming in and doing on the streets what they do in Hong Kong, and there is no effort at all in just practicing basic politeness and civic mindfulness, it saddens me. Am not even talking about real, substantial integration where foreigners have to understand our cultural norms and nuances and become one of us.

We're not asking them to become one of us. They can go back to India or China after a few years and not know about our Lunar New Year, our Ang Baos, our 4D draws, our daily struggles, etc.

We're just asking for them to be mindful. To be aware of the need to share public spaces with everyone especially the local Singaporeans and do their part in keeping the place tidy, clean and hygienic. To clear up their own mess after they have had their barbecues and poolside parties. To throw litter where it belongs. To do their business in the toilet rather than on the streets. To make way for the elderly and be quiet when children are attending classes nearby.

Is that too much to ask? Are these basic acts of civic mindfulness so onerous an imposition on the foreigners who step foot on our shores and snap up our properties and drive the cost of living sky high?

We took many decades to learn not to spit. To not pee in elevators. To speak English and not Chinese to a Malay neighbour if we don't know Malay ourselves. We even had to have a former Prime Minister call us dogs just to chastise us into behaving well. Now it seems we are back to square one, with foreigners behaving in our country just as we might have behaved to each other 50 years ago.

What is the price we Singaporeans have been asked to pay? Why is that the government asks us to embrace and tolerate these foreigners rather than telling these foreigners to adjust to our ways? Why is it that the fault for poor integration is always blamed on Singaporeans and not on foreigners? Why is it that basic civic mindedness is slowly becoming more and more absent in our society?

Sorry for the long rant. I had to let this out. This issues touches my heart as well.

Am glad you guys came together to make Mandarin Gardens great again. Proud of you chaps even though am not a resident there!

We shd not have to give up what we built over 50years to foreigners. We shd not compel our young sons to protect trash from 3rd world countries and who think they own SG. We shd not compel our aged to clean tables.

Blame it on the pap.

Hope that Bukit Batok residents will slap the pap tmrw and vote in CSJ. What have they got to lose? voting in murali is a stupid option

I do remember that it was Melville Park that became the first Indian enclave. The swimming pool photos that was splashed on the internet spoke volumes.

All Singapore will rejoice when Melville residents reclaim it from the foreigners
