Congratulation to all Man Utd fans here.
You are the champion again, third title in a row and no.18
at least this season,it is not decided so early.

well as your previous captain - Steve Bruce mentioned after the Wigan's match,it took Man Utd 26 years to win the title after their last. so still not too bad for Liverpool, still have a few more years to go before coming to it.

Yo, can't he be more dignified than allude to merely more points garnered?:( Real sour puss

well, the table doesn't lie. the best team is the one that has the most points at the end of the season. end of argument (as if there was one). and pool haven't been in that position since the inauguration of the premier league plus a couple of years. perhaps the 'close fight' he perceived this time round got to him.

All the fees and wages aside, I'd rather have Tevez than that immature imbecile Ronaldo in my team. No doubt the latter has scored some spectacular and at times crucial goals through the years, but footy is a team sport where egos too big are doomed to fail. One just has to look at how Fergie offloaded these prima donnas and wankers over the years but has retained a winning grip on the title. One superstar (or so he thinks of himself) gone does not render a team of 11 (or squad of 25) useless overnight. I like what I see of Tevez, on the other hand. Diligent, tenacious, and willing to work for the team. He should be kept even if it means selling Ronnie.

I am an Arsenal fan and this season has been a continuation of the past few seasons. Anyway, congrats to Man U for equaling Pool's records and I believe a few records have been set that will never be equalled.

11 titles in 17 years.
11 titles by one manager
11 titles by one player

Having said that, Man U fans are obviously looking forward to the future with their "best" squad ever with "two or three players for each position". Now that Fergie is refusing to pay for Trevez citing "economic constraint", I am wondering whether even Man U can afford such a huge squad next year.

No we dun have 2-3 players for each position. We have players like Fletcher, Brown, O' Shea and Hargreaves schooled to play in more than 1 position. Hell, even Vidic is slated as an emergency striker should the need arise. Some of the youths will make it to the first team while others like Nani has been given the green light to leave.

Tevez's demand were excessive. I dun think Fergie will pay at any cost. Having said that I couldn't believe Utd paid an astronomical 10 million pounds for his services for the past 2 years. If the club were to accede to his demands, we could see wages spiraling out of control at OT.

Tevez's future to be decided in June, says Gill
May 17, 2009

Manchester United want to keep Carlos Tevez despite the Argentinian striker saying he expects to leave Old Trafford and that the club have shown him a lack of respect, chief executive David Gill said on Sunday.

"The actual situation will be cleared up in early June and without a doubt we will look at it," Gill said.

"We will assess the squad. He has done very well, come on and made an impact in some crucial games this year and we would like him to stay, but the actual economic situation needs to be clarified."

Asked if he and manager Alex Ferguson wanted Tevez to stay at Old Trafford, Gill replied; "If it can be structured correctly, yes we do."

He also said there were no ongoing discussions about Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the club, who won a record-equalling 18th League title on Saturday.

Gill said the deal for Tevez was more complicated than usual because his "economic rights" were owned by the agent Kia Joorabchian.

Gill explained that United had paid a "loan fee" to Joorabchian for the last two years but have to decide now whether to pay a fixed fee at which point Manchester United would own Tevez and have a new contract with him.

However, if United do not agree a deal, Tevez could be offered to other clubs by the company which owns him.

Tevez appeared to be waving goodbye to the Old Trafford faithful when he was substituted during Saturday's 0-0 draw with Arsenal.

Asked if he was waving goodbye, an emotional Tevez told Sky Sports: "Maybe goodbye, maybe.

"I like the fans so much. Thank you. It was very difficult for me."

But Tevez has accused Manchester United of showing him a lack of respect and suggested he would no stay with the Red Devils .

The 25-year-old told Argentinian TV station TYC: "I know that I am not going to continue at Manchester United.

"I feel that they have lacked respect towards me. It's not about whether they pay £5m more or £5m less, but I feel I have been badly treated.

"There are ways in which the club is managed that I don't understand. When you don't agree with the manager in how the club is run... I don't have faith in a lot of things that happen here.

"I've been here for two years and the directors have never come to speak to me. Not once have I had a meeting with them.

"Therefore, it's best that I leave the club so as not to clash with (manager) Alex Ferguson and the directors. Neither do I understand why I don't play in the team.

"I've asked (adviser) Kia (Joorabchian) not to speak to me about offers during the next 10 days. I want to concentrate only on the final matches that we have to play.

"Afterwards, I've got a month to take a decision and choose where to go.''

Sir Alex Ferguson believes compromise is the only way to resolve the situation after branding the demands put to Manchester United as "unrealistic''.

He told the Sunday Times: "The demands originally put to us were unrealistic. Like other clubs, we have to be aware of the consequences of the credit crunch.

"It's no time to be careless about money. As far as Tevez is concerned, everybody would be best served by a willingness to compromise.''

The way Sir Alex manages, no single player is indispensable, including Ronaldo or Rooney.

He made that point quite clear when Beckham was sold at the peak of his career

Alex Ferguson already has a place in the epl manager hall of fame

Benitez refuses to laud Ferguson

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez refused to congratulate Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for beating his side to the Premier League title.

"I prefer just to say well done to the club, a big club, a good club," he said after Liverpool beat West Brom 2-0.

"Normally you have to be polite and respect the other manager but during the season we have seen a lot of things that I didn't like, so that's it.

"I say congratulations to United because they have won. And that's it."

Benitez's comments will only serve to continue the ongoing feud between the two managers as they have traded blows while their teams have battled for the league crown.

United's victory gave them a record-equalling 18 titles along with Liverpool.

Liverpool's win over the Baggies should secure second place in the Premier League but the victory was marred by an on-field spat between Jamie Carragher and Alvaro Arbeloa.

The pair were involved in a heated pushing exchange as the Reds struggled to keep a Baggies side at bay late on.

"The disagreement between my two players was because we wanted another clean sheet, we wanted 21," explained Benitez.

"I don't like what I saw but I am trying to see the positive side of things.

"We were looking to hit targets, a record points tally for the club of 83 and we achieved that. We wanted 13 away league wins, which is also a record.

Carragher had to be restrained after a spat with Arbeloa And we wanted another clean sheet and runners-up position. You could see why Jamie Carragher was like he was with Alvaro Arbeloa.

"For me that is a positive message about the mentality of the team. We wanted to show character and a desire to win and be second and stay as close as we could to Manchester United.

"Arbeloa was going forward and we had some problems in defence, so we wanted to protect Jose Reina better, he has 20 clean sheets and Manchester United's Edwin van der Sar has 21. That was important."

Liverpool have now failed to win the top-flight title since 1990 and Benitez says they will continue to compete with their rivals until a new stadium is built for the Reds.

The construction of a replacement stadium for the current Anfield home has been delayed by co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Bust-up was over clean sheets - Carragher"On an economic level we cannot fight with the other big teams, at least for now, in particular because of the stadium," added Benitez.

"Manchester United's Old Trafford has 76,000 seats, Arsenal's Emirates has 60,000 and Chelsea can count on Abramovich.

"Until we have a new stadium, we will not be able to compete economically. In the meantime we'll have to do things very well to be competitive."

I hope Rafa doesn't make a U turn and concede. The tension between these two managers is healthy and I'd prefer they settle it on the pitch.
Last night's game between the West Brom and Liverpool was interesting especially the scuffle between Carragher and Arbeloa. For a moment I thot they were going to shoot themselves by getting one of their own sent off. The pressure of ending without a trophy has gotten to some players.

Btw, anyone know where that scouser Mollina is performing?

i shall take this opportunity to congratulate all ManU fans today even prior to the gooners game...the EPL title was probably sewn up after the red devils came through the minor blimp in Mar...as they say at the end of the day the table never lies and ManU have proven to be the best team with great strength in depth and a shrewd fox of a manager...

till August:smile:

That scuffle shows what is happening to our beloved game. It really drove home the point that the influx of mercenary foreigners is taking the heart and soul out of the very game we have come to love over the years. Arbeloa, being merely an asset the club has bought from Spain, obviously does not have the same attitude that the Carraghers and the Gerrards have. To think he had the audacity to retaliate!

With Man Utd, you have the homegrown Giggs, Scholes, Neville and Fletcher, plus the likes of Ferdinand, Rooney, Carrick, all of whom understand the significance attached to winning and losing. Chelsea have Lamps and Terry. No prizes for guessing why Arsenal have struggled over the past few years.

Agree. I hope the tension will not degenerate to anything like the one @ Highbury-us against them. If that ever actuate, soccer will be the sole loser.

The good news for us is Brown and Hargreaves will be back next season. I would also be keen to know the list of players to be farmed out.
