Re: Other parts of Malaysia - KL

i think this news is appropriate here:

Singapore and Malaysia have agreed to build a high speed rail link between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore by 2020, in a move that both heads of government called a "game-changer".

Announcing the breakthrough agreement at a press conference today following bilateral talks, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that the rail link would create a 90 minute door to door journey for commuters, and that it will "change the way we do business, the way we look at each other and interact."

He pointed to the Eurostar link between Paris and London, which transformed "two European cities into one virtual urban community" as a model for the KL-SG link.

Malaysian PM Najib Razak said that the project will be a private-public one, with the link being built by private contractors with government infrastructural support. He declined to estimate how much the project will cost.

London is another place that is getting attention for property investors. Did you live there?

Re: Other parts of Malaysia - KL

Yes, lot of Malaysians and Malaysia companies have been investing in UK due to lower currency as now 1pound - 4 ringgit plus only compare to few years back 1pound - 7 ringgit plus. I have business interest in UK but not in property.I mostly invested in unit trust, equities and stocks in Malaysia, not much in property. The properties I have now is sufficient for my retirement  I have 2 properties at the moment
But I do planning to have another property as my 2nd child is 1 year old now

Still have not figured out where is the best place to invest in KL. I read about the potential bubble forming out of the TRX so maybe commercial could be a good investment when the supply comes onstream?

How is the Bukit Ceylon area compared to those around KLCC? Knew of someone who just bought a unit for 2.5m - Verticas by WingTai (newly TOP)
According to the ads:

Verticas Residensy. Tucked away in tranquil Bukit Ceylon, near the peaceful serenity of the 11ha Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, this 43-storey condominium offers a highly exclusive residence that espouses a fashionable and modern lifestyle.

Situated in the prime location of the city’s Golden Triangle, Verticas Residensi surrounded by shopping malls such as Pavilion, KLCC, Star Hill, Lot 10, restaurants and cafes, bars and clubs, hotels as well as social and cultural hubs galore.

It comprises four 43-storey towers that consist of a total of over 600 units with built-up sizes starting from 1,400 sf to 2,400 sf.

- Walking distance to the new underground MRT station (Bukit Bintang Central station)

- 5 minutes stroll to countless amenities (Eateries, Banking facilities, Groceries, Shopping Malls)

Hi LeMans,
If you thinking of Verticas by Wingtai, you should look at Le Nouvel, by the same developer but location just beside Avenue K opposite KLCC

These are big sized units. Difficult to rent out. Btw Bukit Ceylon is currently avoided by renters due to the heavy construction in the area.

Well, its a abit remote n could be unsafe when walking at nite, cos its abit upslope into the far end. It takes about 10-15min walk before u start to see lights n pubs etc.

hmm.. this area still lacks abit of class when compared to the KLCC area, cos all the 5-6 stars hotels are at KLCC. This stretch consists of some budget hotels as well, probably for backpackers.

pricing way different, would be about double the price of verticas. last I heard is that they will only sell when completed n furnished and priced it at a premium of RM2600psf

Thanks for your first hand feedback... all of you really know the area well.
Obviously what I read are the marketing materials that touted how the area would benefit from TRX and be the new CBD comparing Verticas to the likes of The Sail and Icon. My own inclination is to go for KLCC condos and my guess is anything with rental above 10k rm will not be easy to rent out.
