Thousands at ZoukOut party
SINGAPORE: They danced, shuffled and partied their way into the wee hours of morning.
ZoukOut, one of Singapore’s most popular dance festival, ended early Sunday.
The 14—hour dance party ended at 8am on Sunday, with thousands of party—goers in attendance.
Despite ticket prices hitting about S$101 this year — about 10 per cent more than last year’s — party revellers were out in force, with queues forming at the entrance before 6pm on Saturday.
Organisers capped this year’s capacity at 28,000 to prevent overcrowding. ZoukOut saw 30,000 attendees last year.
Held at the resort island of Sentosa, this year’s event featured 22 international DJs and local acts.
The event attracted party rockers from all over the world who said the festival is unlike the events they have back home.
"This is much bigger and it’s much better organised and it’s been really good and I feel safer as well," said a party—goer.
"I mean there are not that many (parties) that are on the beach, right? It’s on the beach, it’s perfect weather, the drinks are flowing, it’s going to be good," said another.
"This is our first (time) and we’ll come for it next year. Definitely, for sure," said a third.
This is the 11th year for ZoukOut and pioneering resident DJs are pleased with how much the event has grown.
Resident DJ Jeremy Boon said: "I’ve been to every ZoukOut and from 5,000 people we’ve grown to 30,000. From a small little area in Tanjong Beach, we’ve grown to take the full area in Siloso Beach. And the production gets bigger each year, from normal projectors we are now growing into projectors and pyrotechnics. And we’ve got lots of more fringe activities compared to when we first started."
Guest DJs were just as pumped up about the event.
"I think, more than anything, it’s just about consistency. As long as something like this keeps on happening, it’s going....to keep getting bigger.....As long as the consistency is there, you keep getting good quality acts, it will build and become bigger than anything," said DJ Karizma from the USA.

i dont understand why singaporean always said age stop them from doing something they enjoy ? in japan and other party of the world you can see old man like 50s plus still going for rave party
i know in zouk there a doctor age about 50 plus still enjoying himself ...we called him micheal jackson hes always with wear white gloves dancing on the stage .
