A youth was spared a jail term and ordered to undergo probation for two years on Friday for assaulting and threatening his then girlfriend.
A Community Court had called for pre-sentence reports on Koh Dechathorn, 18, who had admitted to slapping and punching the 17-year-old student multiple times and threatening to chop off her left hand at his home in Kim Keat Avenue on Oct 25, 2010.
The court was told that when the girl came to his home to talk about some relationship problems, they quarrelled over an alleged third male party.
He told her to go to a bedroom where he pinned her onto the bed with his body weight and questioned her.
He slapped and punched her and stopped only when she bled from her mouth. He later took her to the kitchen and threatened to chop off her hand with a knife.
