Many children who were not spared the rod, grow up to be very vicious, vindictive and resentful people. Some even become abusers or killers themselves.
The key is to discipline and show concern for children where appropriate. Use the cane only where absolutely necessary, and never ever show bias or favouritism.

One thing parents should always remember is that the children didn't ask to be born and society doesn't own them or their children anything. Hence the parents' responsibility is to bring up their children properly and ensure that their children don't kill anyone. If they do, then the parents should be held accountable.
