Over here no restrictions. I guess Canada is big and lots of open space. Even cycling the enthusiasts will load their bikes on bike carrier (electric and not electric bikes I have seen) and drive to the mountains or the more rural roads and do their cycling trips.
The Bow Valley Parkway is the more forested road parallel to the main highway when you drive through the Rockies.

They have been closing it off to let cyclists use it.

Legacy trail is a common seen one from the highway and I see so many people cycling. And lately noticed many are using electric bikes.
It is less arduous more relaxing for the not so fit people I guess. Haha!
