Actually, this Malik was already a personal affiliate with some members and affiliates of the SDP, not that he only got to know them after the incident.

If dat is true, then the arrest can also be a form of intimidation to people not to associate themselves with SDP (by hinting that SDP supporters/affiliates will be treated harsher than others)
