According to a news report from Wanbao, Gabriel Yam, whose father is the famous GE 2011 Returning Officer Yam Ah Mee, was allegedly charged for drunk driving in Arizona, United States.
He was allegedly caught for drunk driving sometime in Mar/Apr time-frame while driving a sports car to a night club.
The news was reported by Wanbao on 15 May, right after an elite PRC expatriate, Ma Chi, crashed his million dollar Ferrari into a taxi on 12 May, killing himself and 2 others. In Gabriel Yam’s case, no one was hurt, apparently.
When a Wanbao reporter tried calling Yam Ah Mee to enquire about his son, Yam told the reporter, “Sorry, the information is still unclear. I am still checking. Sorry, I’m still at a meeting.”
Gabriel Yam is the eldest son of Yam Ah Mee who currently is the Chief Executive Director of the People’s Association. He shot to fame after Singaporeans took to his monotone voice and expressionless demeanor, as the Returning Officer for GE 2011.
During the RSAF’s 40th Anniversary celebration in 2008, the father and son, both RSAF’s airmen, sent their well wishes to the RSAF. It was published on the special publication to commemorate RSAF’s 40th Anniversary:
“All RSAF officers and airmen can be justifiably proud of what the RSAF has achieved in the past 40 years. With the continued dedication and commitment of its talented people, I’m sure that the RSAF is well prepared for the challenges ahead in the defence of Singapore. We are privileged to be part of the Air Force family!”
In 2008, OCT Gabriel Yam was a pilot trainee in the RSAF. According to Mindef website, the RSAF has an F-16 fighter detachment at the Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. It is likely that Gabriel Yam is based there currently.
His father, Yam Ah Mee was an SAF scholar, served in the RSAF, rising to be the Chief of Staff (Air Staff) from 1995 to 1997. He retired from the SAF as a Brigadier-General before entering the Civil Service.

For a young man caught drink drving, regardless of who is his lau pay, lau bu, ah kong, ah ma, it is understandable.

But for YAM to shoot to fame for the reasons stated, I find it hard to digest. Are S'poreans bored or what? If YAM was in a first world country and with his monotone voice and expressionless demeanour, it is unlikely he would make it on TV. Over here, he shot to fame! Truly an amazing country.

britain had a fascination with its own loser.... eddie ' the eagle ' edwards in some winter olympics.....americans had theirs with 'american idol '

William Hung .....have la bro...its a kind of weird fascination that people sometimes have for losers.

Apparently, Ah Mee studied in Australia. Wonder what the Aussies called him then.

When Yam Ah Mee was the head of LTA, he was the one responsible for the proliferation of many additional ERP gantries.

Go on and indulge in the 'cuteness' of his election result announcer gig. He is still an ex-SAF trash, and part of the PAP machinery.

Yes bro you got it right.
It's ok to parody him and poke fun at him but some fucktards (probably from the 60.1%) actually 'idolize' him.
This was a jialiaobee BG, headed LTA and now PA with is under the Pappy umbrella.
Do not lose focus, this is another evil being abeit in a robot's body.

When he was in the SAF, his voice and demeanour could possibly be described in one word.....................guniang.

It's amazing how the voice and demeanour became a monotone and expressionless respectively, after only a few years...........

Lets hope in the future when Ah Yam's son takes part in the NDP flypast. he downs a bottle of whisky inside his cockpit and crash his F15 into the VIP section of the crowd.. :D  :D

Singaporeans are born to be brainwashed, manipulated and be made use of. If it isn't PAP, it's CHC. If it isn't CHC, it's Sunshine Empire. Singaporeans are born to be slaves. :D

Unfortunately, the VIP stand is amongst normal citizens. "Human Shields" you know
