SINGAPORE'S water polo team at the 2010 Asian Games are raising eyebrows here thanks to their custom-made swimming trunks which feature the Singapore flag's crescent moon and stars near the groin area.

It is courting controversy now as the trunks - designed by themselves - feature the Singapore flag displayed prominently, especially at the front.

However, the Singapore Arms and Flag and National Anthem Act states that approval must be sought from the Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts to use the flag as part of any costume or attire, provided there is 'no disrespect'.

Anyone found guilty of misusing the flag can be fined up to a maximum of $1,000.

When contacted, a spokesman from the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts said they were preparing a statement. (Please check back on the Straits Times website later on Wednesday to see their reply)

why is this statement necessary? I am glad that i am not part of this bullshit now.

They can argue that the shape of the crescent moon represents the shape of their curvy dicks, while the stars are purely for decorative purposes!

Anyway, there are vast differences from the national flag. Firstly, the white portion of the flag is missing. Secondly, the position of the stars in the flag is different from that on the trunks.

Still not late to paint the back half of the trunk white. This would make look like they have just wrapped the flag around the groin area.
